Well I managed to quit for about a month a couple of years ago with a lot of help from this forum - but succumbed to a very smoky pub at the wrong time of month.........
Now I'm BACK! After a false start on Friday with just my (lack of) willpower and lasting exactly 24 hours before I was running off to the shop for a fix - I decided not to give up giving up and stocked up on patches. I slapped my first one on before bed last night and haven't wanted to smoke particularly much since! So here we go again - 3rd time lucky!

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting
Keep going, its soooooooooooo hard! This is about my 6th attemp and i am going to make sure its my last attemp. This attempt is the first time i have been on here and i have found it brilliant. Instead of having a cig i come on here for 5 mins and it has really motivated me. Its still early days for me too but i am on day 3 and yesterday was a real struggle but feeling loads better today.
You're doing brilliant - first three days is the hardest - so I hear, so you're already over that hurdle.Keep going.
PS. Should be easy given your name as under water swimming/snorkling/scuba diving were about the only sports I haven't found a way of doing them while smoking!
I've never tried patches before - don't know if it was related or not but I wasn't half having strange dreams last night! Must be cos I've never found a way to smoke in my sleep before!
I just finished giving the kitchen a major clean - I'd normally be smoking NOW and I DO want one, but I'm telling myself it's all in the mind as I'm getting nicotine from the patch! I just need to break the actual habit itself!
I'm nearly through day one and the temptations have been so slight it's been easy to resist so far. Glad the dreams aren't just me - gonna try the patch overnight anyway just to see what entertainment I get!
I just dug out my old posts from when I NEARLY quit and remembered that it helped to suck a tic tac if I had a craving - so I've stocked up!
