Firstly welcome and well done on the month. Hmmm, drinking and the urges! That's a difficult one to answer and possible you aren't going to like the answer. Just stop drinking for a while. If it's like that at the moment then you aren't enjoying yourself anyway. Why spend money on not enjoying yourself?

The good outlook is that I can tell you eventually it will get easier...once you are on top of your quit and past the patches too. To help that statement be realised read up on information here and on the links in my sig. You'll find eventually that you'll understand the process you are going through and that understanding translates into your quit become more manageable. Then....you back in the pub getting pissed :D

My advice would be to avoid drinking for awhile. Have a drink but if you have to many trust me you will figure out a reason to smoke. I'm personally not having more then 2 drinks at a time for 6 months. I want to make it it this time and telling yourself that having a drink won't be problem is the smoker in ya talking.

I also keep in my mind that I know myself, if I start again I will smoke like a normal smoker again.

I have mentioned this before, I found that it helps to switch from your normal drink, I assosciate lager with smoking so i switched to bitter or white wine and found the cravings not as bad. I also found the occassional chaser helped as knocking back a double sambuca hits the back of the throat and takes ones mind off everything, including smoking .

However it is important to not get so drunk as to cloud your better judgement as many a quit has come of the rails due to excessive boozing, at the end of the day it is only booze and if you can not drink for 2-3 months untill not smoking becomes easier then that is probably the best option.
