63 hours smoking free..

So I just stumbled across this site today in hopes to find something to keep smoking off my mind.

It's been 63 hours almost 64 hours smoking free, and the urges seem to be getting stronger. I am trying really hard, but it seems all I can do these days is; wake up, cry, go to school, cry, sleep, cry, eat, then it's time for bed. I can't even find the will power to do homework, or clean. I know my family wants me to quit as does my girlfriend. BUT I should be quitting for myself right ? Does this get any easier? Day 2 and 3 have been really hard..

Any advice you can give would be helpful.

-Missi

It really does get easier

But you have to want to do it for yourself. If you're only doing it cos other people want you too, then you're still very attached to the habit and it will be very hard for you, because you haven't made the decision for yourself. Allan Carrr is good for that because he helps you realise that you don't really "enjoy" or "benefit" from smoking in any way at all. What you "enjoy" is feeding your craving for nicotine which only occurs because you smoked the last cigarette. You "enjoy"feel ing the relief from the nicotine withdrawal that you are constantly in. Your body is still in a withdrawal from a very addictive drug, so thats why it feels so unpleasant now.

Hope that helps, but you really have to want to do it for yourself, as it's an addiction like any other,

Day 3 & 4.. get through both of these.. but take each day on its own, and just work on getting through it.

I would agree with jude75 here though, you need to also want to quit here, not just agree with the family and girlfriend and go along with their wishes. There is no reason why you cannot during your quit read up on nicotine addiction and in particular how it keeps you hooked.

I would definitely also agree that reading the Allen Carr Easy Way to Stop Smoking book would be beneficial to you in that it will dissolve the brainwashing that nicotine has had you believe.. there is plenty of material out there on the internet to read on this, but from what i read when i was digging through the Allen Carr book, i found that it spoke the most sense.
