Hi everyone, today is my 10th day as a non smoker :D

I feel so proud of myself after smoking 15 a day for the last 15 years.

I have gone cold turkey after reading Dr Allen Carrs easyway book.

I just have a few questions I am hoping some of you will be able to answer for me,

why can I only sleep for a few hours a night?

has anyone else got really sensitive teeth and sore gums? is this normal?

And I am sooooooo short tempered I keep biting everyones heads off :(

I have also had the dizzyness that seems to have passed now.

Also I keep being a bit wierd like yesterday I was driving and I stopped at a green light

Mmmmmm strange, has anyone else felt like this and why??? and when will it stop?????

Looking forward to getting to know you all :)

Hi and welcome to the forum - congratulations :D

Right, the questions...

Disturbed sleep is entrely normal while your bodies chemical balance readjusts. It can last a while though, so you may wish to try some over the counter remedies if it gets very bad.

Teeth and gums is also normal as the chemistry in the mouth returns to normal - some get bleeding gums as the gums get thinner. If it bothers you, a good clean at the dentists can help it to sort itself quicker.

Short tempered is normal for the first few days or couple of weeks... don't worry, it will pass :)

Dizzyness is simply more oxygen in the blood than you're used to.

That and the green light thing may well be whats known as CRSS... Can't remember s**t syndrome :D

Hi Jessie :D

If you get desperate for sleep try Nytol or Kalms bith are good and will get you back to a sleep pattern

They're both herbal and non addictive, can be bought over the counter and at most supermarkets

Hi Jessie

Yep I had all those symptons!

I would recommend a trip to the dentist. I have an appointment booked for next week because my teeth are hurting! However, the dentist sent some Sensodyne home with my husband for me so I would recommend getting some to help settle the gums and some mouth wash to help the soreness.

Sleepless nights - ahhhh yes, this was a problem. I gave up my precious mochas after 5.00pm and drank loads of water. It does pass I promise although at the time it doesnt feel like it will.

Short tempered!! LOL Oh how my colleagues laughed when I asked them if I was more short tempered, they tell me they havent noticed a great difference!

I also suffered with oxygen overload! I sat in a meeting for about 15 mins before I stopped the speaker and asked him to repeat the whole thing because I was not even on the same planet!!!! :o:o

I am on week 6 and the symptons have passed, I do find I need less sleep but wake up with much more energy so its not a bad thing.

Hi jessie, well done on your quit so far and this forum is great for us quitters, there is loads of support and you have probably mt lots of lovely people whom have given you the link pages to read and read and read! There is so much to to learn but it completely makes you understand whats going on and why you feel the way you do.

So now you are a non smoker who gets a free high from oxygen overload, how cool is that (ha ha),

Keep smiling and post often:)

Well day 12 is nearly over :)

Today has been a bit of a struggle, I seemed to have been thinking about the ciggies alot today!!!! But I have kept myself busy to take my mind off it.

I slept better last night but woke up still feeling really tired.....And I don't know if this has got anything whatsoever to do with stopping smoking but my ankles have swelled up and are really aching  has anyone else had this??
