Thanks so much for the response...

I resisted the urge to have my usual cig in the car on the way to work...found a piece of chewing gum and munched on that instead. Went out with a colleague for our usual cig-break but didn't have one...didn't feel I wanted one either, but fancied the fresh air!?

I'm trying to work out whether I smoke because I 'need/want' to, or just because it's a habit. Either way, I don't want to do it anymore. I want to smell nice!

Also, I'm wondering, because I smoke roll-ups (classy or what!), whether it's not quite so bad as withdrawal from tailor-mades.

Either way, I'm getting more and more spaced out! Very interesting seeing as I'm sat in the office.

Hi Starless :)

I imagine it is a combination of the 2 you need to feed the addiction and we all have certain times we light up out of habit like after a meal etc

Have a read of this I think it will help you

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

Good Luck

Hi there welcome aboard.

The spaced out feeling is due to having increased levels of oxygen in your blood stream, instead of the carbon monoxide you would usually be pumping round your body courtesy of the ciggies.

The body gets used to it quite soon but I its a very weird sensation and a noticeable demonstration of the effect smoking has!

Good luck with the quit read Marg's links and try to see quitting as gaining (health, wealth and control) rather than making a great sacrifice and depriving yourself.

All the best

Nic
