Hi all well I gave in and put on a patch have I to go back to day one after so long it feels as do I lost the fight:(jimbo
I gave in: Hi all well I gave in and put on a... - No Smoking Day
I gave in
Jim, I don't think by putting on a patch is giving in, at least you've sought help instead of lighting up. Im only on my second week so I don't know what to expect, but I know there are going to be highs and lows. Don't feel you've let yourself down, reading around these posts there are difficult times ahead for us all, but there will be really, really good times as well. Keep smiling, there's lots to look forward to.
Hi nJim,
I agree with Lozza if you didn`t smoke you didn`t fail keep it up mate.

Hi Jimbo
Nooooooooooo you dont hve to go back to day 1 just because you put on a patch.
We all have the the same end in sight and by you putting on a patch does not mean you have given in, you havent smoked so no reason why you should go back hun.
It dont matter how you do it, we all have different ways of getting there but getting there is what we are all focused on doing.
Well done for getting to 1 month and better its a patch then a ciggy, you did the right thing hun.

Hi jimbo
Hi mate
Does that mean that the hundreds of people like me that are using patches or some other NRT have not quit ??????
I have not smoked for 3 weeks and feel good about the fact I have not put a cig in my mouth.
Sod what you need to do to stop you doing that,as long as it works ????
sorry if this sounds short or harsh, but to be told that you have failed because you are using a recognized therapy in your attempt to remain smoke free is far from failing, when you light your first cig you have failed and not until then mate
Keep the faith
Jimbo,
No you have not failed, lighting up would be different and I think that would be a "failed attempt" for most people.
However I do understand why you ask, as you have re-started feeding your nicotine addiction. I have points where I fancy a smoke and the thought has gone through my mind, of well why not have a lozenge and although its way better to use NRT than smoke, I think that its a backwards step to use it after having been off it for a while. Smoking is nicotine addiction and you need to starve the body of nicotine to complete the quit, sooner or later.
Hang in there, I know that you had real trouble last time when you tried to come off the NRT but I'm sure you will do it this time.
Cheers
Nic

I second that. However Nic makes a good point, you have put the patch on to satisfy your addiction. It makes you feel rubbish mentally as we can tell by the post, how do you feel physically? Not much better I imagine. Now hold on to that feeling, and whenever you're ready to go CT again, and maybe have the urge to whack a patch on, remember the feeling.
Don't be too disheartened though mate, you're doing really well so far, this may be a little trip-up, but you're still on your feet!
your not giving in... you are doing the sensible thing... well done for not smoking still... long may it last

Jimbo
You have definitely not failed you just need help for a little longer I failed dismally on patches
I wonder if you could just use part of a patch or maybe use one everyother day and then every 2 days and so on
Love margaret

ABSOLUTELY!! No fail there! You're using N.R.T. (like myself and loads of others)
