Day 3 - Big Test

This is my third quit day and a tester as I am home alone! Had to take a flexi today as I have had very little sleep in the past 2 nights and when I have dozed I am experiencing very bad dreams. I have an urge to search the house to find a "lone" ciggie lurking in the corner of a handbag or drawer and if I did find one I know I would be an idiot to smoke it but the temptation is there. Think I'll put my trainers on and go for a brisk walk/jog which will hopefully help me. Since quitting on Sunday I have been so positive but today I don't know why, it's hard work.:(

There is a good reason why day 3 is hard. At the end of it you will be clean.

There will be no nicotine in your system.

Today is normally the peak of the physical craves as well.

Keeping occupied I think is key at the early stages, so go walking do some housework/diy/whatever.

Do some reading as well. That will really help.

Some on here, maybe whyquit.com , woofmang.com , quitsmokingonline.co.uk and a google search ;)

Learning about what to expect and why you feel like this is a great weapon.

You are doing fantastically well, and it would be a crying shame to smoke now... keep it going and you will succeed... it does get easier, and quicker than you expect :D

Hi Jay

Try and hang in there hun, today is probably one of the worst days if not the worst.

Just imagine how good you are going to feel at the end of today, you have got through one of the worst days and guarantee tomorrow you will find it alot easier.

Dont give in to the nico demon, you know you can do it, stay focused and if it helps stay on here and keep posting.

Hi Jay,

Sorry to here that day 3 isn't as good for you today! I know what you mean about the lone ciggie... you know what though if you did find it, I bet it would be all squashed and no where near as good as you think it would be. We had a half full pack of ciggies in the bottom of our bin bag on day 1 and it took all our might not to dig them out! The only reason I didn't is because it made me think that it was something Amy Winehouse would do!

I have a tip for you which keeps me upbeat... I keep playing my favourite songs over and over again and singing them really loudly and really badly! It takes my mind off the cravings and cheers me up!

Hope this helps, sorry I'm not much use with the advise! Stay strong!

I concur with all that has been said thus far. I can't really add anything! Drinking water has worked really well for me so far, as it both replaces the smoking, and cleanses the body.

Hope things pick up for you tomorrow and beyond. Stay positive!

Hi Jay,

Well done with your quit!!! I can totally relate to you with the sleep difficulties, I went through a mad time with trying to get to sleep. Sometimes 2am before nodding off then the dreams had me up vertually every hour. I found my fix with nytol, took a few nights but finally managed to get to some form of normal pattern back. Still having the odd wacky dream tho!

As for the temptation, we all have them at some point, but stick it out and before long you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

Good luck :D
