I think it's a good idea to have a drink BUT don't overdo it! Alcohol can severely alter your perspective and the nicodemons will take advantage of your drunken state .... " go on .. you can have one or two tonight, it won't make any difference.. you can stop again tomorrow....I'll just smoke when I'm out having a drink ...etc etc"
If this is the first time you have quit, this will be what you will be thinking after a few drinks. BUT if you do give in, the next time you have a drink you will have to have just one or two ciggies again.. then you will find yourself going for a drink cos that is your excuse to have the odd ciggie.
Before you know it, you'll be back to square one.
The only way to quit is NOT to smoke.
I said it's a good idea to have a drink so you can prove to yourself that you DON'T need a ciggie with a drink. And in fact, a drink tastes better without them - I certainly enjoy wine and cider now without a ciggie because they taste nicer.
..."Got some nice food in the post" - how does that work? - you've got a bacon sarnie being delivered on monday morning??
No mate, I put a nice piece of brisket in red wine, onion and garlic on a slow cook at about miday today (if you ain't tried it before have a go it's top notch!! [cook at 120 degrees for 5 hrs min']).
TBH I'm currently quite bloody minded about it all at the moment. Come on nico demon give me your best shot:D
Although I have just had the most delicious pheasant casserole cooked by my husband using the pheasants he shot last week. And it was swilled down with a couple of glasses of a good red wine! I did think briefly, oh I would like a ciggie now (especially when my husband lit his Marlboro!), but I soon quashed the thought when I recalled my reasons for quitting
I really do appreciate food more already and I've only been quit for 20 days.
It sounds like you have the right attitude to take on the nicodemons tonight - I don't fancy their chances much.
Have a drink or two if I were you to prove to yourself you can do it AND you can enjoy it.
It's a line from Trainspotting (film), as in I've had a load to drink I'm up for work in 3 hours the hangover's "in the post". I've done a load of gardening today, the bad back's "in the post"
Something's on it's way to you shortly...... (saying that, not exactly true with our postal service:D)
