Nicotine alternatives...help or hindrance ? - No Smoking Day
Nicotine alternatives...help or hindrance ?
when i used NRT on a previous quit i found the 4mg too stong for me even though i smoked 20 a day
i used to bite them in half rather then buy the 2mg as they lasted longer that way and also they were slightly better tasting then the 2mg weird as that sounds
"Nicotine alternatives...help or hindrance?"
IMO a total hindrance although they do appear to work for some (short term at least).
Have a read at whyquit.com and then decide if you really need nicotine to stop or not!
I reckon you are just prolonging the addiction to nicotine and you WILL need to come off it at some time. So why not now??
NRT is rubbish IMHO
I have used patches, pills, inhalators etc, they do something but it's only slight, their only effect is to take the edge off for a few days but don't stop you wanting to smoke. They also supress the good feelings caused by getting the nicotine out of your system like extra energy, farting:D, excitement etc.
I feel much better this time quitting CT, it's much more of an achievement IMO and I know I don't have to go through withdrawals from the drug in 3 months time.
dunno, im on champix, so no nicotine for me!!.
Hopefully, the nicotine demons have been allayed now im on day 9, so im keeping with this for now!!
Good luck with whatever you decide
IMHO hinderance...
... ANYTHING that gives your body nicotine in any form is merely changing delivery systems for the nicotine and the addiciton factor IS the nicotine... Once it is out of your system 72-96 hours.... the physical cravings stop.... I can attest to that..... then the mind fcuk games begin and the Monkey Bastard begins to ride you like a wild pony exposed to pulsating seizure inducing strobe lights.... I have (iconically) found weed to be better than anything else (in the first 3-4 days)....
BUT to each his/her own..... whatever gets the smoking to cease.... but bear in mind eventually you have to face the piper and get over the 3-4 days hurdle....
I think you must do whatever works for you. I used patched on my first quit but CT on the last two. But some think they cant do Ct like my partner but I find its no harder the first week is hard with or with out nrt.xxxxx
