Hi everyone,

I'm on day 2 of my 2nd attempt at quitting, I gave up the first time cold turkey for 4 months! Can you believe I started again?! It was a glass of wine and a moment of weakness that started the downfall back to smoking again, well that was 2 years ago and I'm now ready to give up again. I used a forum like this last time and I found it really helpful and supportive. So far I'm going cold turkey again but I've ordered one of those electronic cigarettes, is there any feedback on these, they seem fairly new and there's not much info about on them, a friend of mine had one on NYE and it looked like a great piece of equipment for the quitting job. Good luck to all those quitting and well done to all those that have quit...!:)

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

At least one of the people on here has been using the E-cig hopefully they will be along soon with some info for you.

Personally I used NRT lozenges when I started my quit but the thing that has kept me stopped is understanding nicotine addiction, why I smoked and what to expect while quitting. Personally I would say that you are never truly free while you are putting nicotine in your body!

The links in my signature are full of information which will help you to re-educate yourself and get the right mindset to quit!

The basic thing to remember is that quitting is a gaining process (health, wealth, control) rather than a sacrifice, so you are not depriving yourself of a great pleasure!

Best wishes

Nic

Hi

O.k firstly a big congrats on choosing to quit. You have made a great choice and as you have already quit before for 4 months you know what lies ahead, be prepared in this quit so that lapse never happens.

You can go thorugh the online programs , which you will see on peoples sigs ....these will ensure you stay quit and preapre you better for when craving etc arise

I dont know much about the electric cigarette but i think that if you have coped these past few days without it then your body is already getting used to the idea of having nothing in your hands so it might be counter productive to do so. This ofcourse is all your own choice , if you find giving up easier with it then do that.....the important thing is just dont smoke :)

Good luck and well done so far

Hi - my sister has one of the electric cigarettes that you have ordered. Apparently they are quite heavy (bit like holding a pen) and taste more like a water pipe than a cigarette...but...she rates it. She says it makes the quitting process a lot easier.

One big bonus is that you are legally allowed to smoke them in a pub/bar as they don't contain harmfell toxins - you will get a certificate with it from the department of health confirmning that!!

Good luck!
