No Smoking Day

Hi there

I'm new to the forum! I'm 19 and I've smoked since I was 15, around 15-20 per day. I'm trying to stop now because it's affecting my fitness, health, and my pocket! (£)

I joined the forum seeking support in quitting smoking, it's harder than I thought.

Hi to you all!

Thank you :)

I feel so stupid, I told myself I would quit after I finished my last pack today, but I just ran out to the shops and bought ten. I smoked one - I don't know what to do with the rest? If I tell myself I'll smoke after I've finished the other 9 I'll just buy another pack after :( it's such a vicious cycle.

Thanks for the warm welcome x :D

Hiya gallow,

I started smoking at your age (SUCH a numpty). I had a few half hearted (and I mean very half hearted) attempts to quit in my twenties and I wish, wish, WISH I had stuck with it instead of lasting half a day, getting pissed and lighting up again!

If you kick this thing into touch you will likely go into your twenties and the rest of your life with no lasting damage from the fags. If you keep going, the damage just gets worse and worse, and before you know it you'll be like some of us on here with damaged lungs, prematurely aged skin, knackered teeth, and in some cases really serious illness.

Not to mention having spent thousands and thousands of pounds on inhaling and exhaling a burning plant and a bunch of chemicals.

It isn't easy at the start but stick to your guns now and reclaim your life before this nasty habit really bites you on the arse. You CAN do this!

Hey Gallow, as per Helen and like you I started smoking at 11 and now 34 almost, i smoked 23 years and i even though i feel healthy and look younger, i cant help but think how much more younger would i look or how much healthierwould i be if i stopped early 20 or younger again. I remember at 14 trying to stop and found it hard!!! terrible isint it!! back then we has no idea how bad smoking was, you are a young pup, if you find your addicated badly and need help see your GP and use NRT / Champix or what ever suits and do it.... your still very yound and your body is still growing you will heal at lot quicker and better than most of us on here!
