I'm new on here :D

Being as it's National give up smoking day on wednesday i thought i'd join you fellow ex smokers.

I'm 31 & have been smoking for nearly 5 years now after giving up for 10. I plan to stop for good on wednesday which is where day 1 will really begin for me.

I may have posted in the wrong area  but i'm looking forward to chatting to you all & sharing your experiences.

:)

Hello..

Hello and welcome Fallen Angel ( i like that username). Congrats on deciding to quit. Its the best choice you and i have ever made. I read your reasons and find that our reasons are similar. I am on day 24 today and have not had to cough like a hag for the past 2 weeks. Feels great. I play soccer twice a week and can actually keep up with the others and not run out of breath after 10 seconds. lol. Well once again, CONGRATS!!! I hope you stick with it and stick around....This is probably the best thing I found (forum). It is so rewarding. Good Luck.

Thanks :D

It's easy to feel optimistic right now as wednesday is another day away. I will be honest, i am making the most of it. I like the sound of 'cold turkey'. I'm not one for all these patches & wot not although my i have invested in some form of inhaler to get me started... just in case i do go out of my head!

Glad to have found the forum i think i might need it. I will try my very best not to put up any angry rants, meditation of the purest form will be needed!

Not nervous or anything! :eek::)

^ Thanks^

I'm sure you have all had a good rant or two! I guess it's understandable really, after all it is a drug addiction to overcome. Reading all your stories gives me great hope for a better future. Though i am under ni illusion that it is tough. :(

All future support greatly appreciated btw. I think i may have a high dependecy on the old roll up's but the pro's far outweigh the con's.

best of luck for Wednesday

Welcome fallen angel

Your history sounds much like mine, I'm just quit after 3 years back on the weed, that following a 10 year quit! When I think of how I gave away a 10 year quit for no reason it just makes me

Anyhow, good luck, you know you can do it!

March to freedom - great name! :)

I agree - staying positive is the best thing you can do, although that doesn't mean you can't rant when you want to.

Good luck - you are right, it will be you giving advice and support to others before very long at all, that's how everyone on here got started!

My oh is stopping too, i am very aware that if we have a fall out that smoking will be a big temptation, so i have decided that it's upto him if he wants to stop and start but no way will i start if he does. I have a sneaky feeling he will find it alot harder than me so i need to be strong regardless.:o

The major factor here for me is my upcoming tooth extraction in hospital, 3 lovely wisdom teeth, i figured that by not smoking means i'll recover alot quicker and have less risk while under the general.

Stop smoking

Exams Wisdom teeth

All in a space of 3 weeks

Welcome Fallen Angel and well done on your decision to quit.

My OH stopped at the same time as me but we have handled it very differently. He does not post here (apart from one cheeky post on my sign in) and he had found the quit mentally tougher than me. I wanted to talk he wants to forget, so basically we have not spoken for 5 months...joke..:D

My advice is give each other the space to quit their own way and remember you quit for you and no one else. Your quit is not dependant on him and vice versa.

Good luck tomorrow and there is always someone here to help.
