I'm on day 2 and I'm doing ok -just been to my friends for a coffee and she was smoking, which made me want one, but I resisted.
The question I have now is I work in a cafe voluntarily and I'm workin this afternoon 1-5. I usually have a fag in the car on the way home - what can I do?

well come ,,you have done the hard bit by stoping,if you smoke ,you will have to start all over again,,and you dont went to do that do you, philip,a lot of it is only phychological..you are doing excellent.we are here for you .belive in your self and you will be ok.. like i say keep the faith all the best tony
Maybe some gum or mints or sweets will help but the simple answer Philip is just tough it out!!!
Get some practice of not smoking under your belt, and with practice comes control!!
There is no way round it, just be aware that its a trigger point, and be resolute that you won't smoke. I remember finding long car journeys to be the most tricky part of my early quit, but I got used to it and now it doesn't crop up.
I am convinced that we have so much learned behaviour from our years of smoking that the only way to break free of the feeling is to practice life as a non smoker and eventually get used to all those "trigger" situations without a smoke being involved.
