Good going buddy.

The 1st few days are the worst, no reason to have to repeat them again if you stick with the program ;)

All the best

SOOOO close to moving into the Day 3 area, and I cannot believe how much I fancy a fag right now!

One of those cravings that just seems to not go away. Will have to divert myself rather sharpish and hope that the wife hasn't left any in the house when she went to work.

Still, at least I can't go out to buy any, am at home on my own with my son about to go to bed, so thats something I suppose!

Lol sound like me Stu, I live miles away from shop and though of dragging myself and kids out to buy fags, does not appeal LOL (hey if lazyness is going to stop me then that will work for me)

I know what you mean with the craves when you are slap bang in the middle of one, they are hard, but i tired this and it worked wonders for me

Rather than try to ignore the crave, get a note pad and write down all about it, how much its in the front of your head, how much your whole body feels like its shaking wanting one - the whole gory details.

I did this each and every time (try not to miss any out) and what I realized by day 5, was whilst i was still having cravings I only had 3 that day (today Ive only really had one).

But what I found most useful, was the fact I could see them getting less intense and frequent, and by having a point of reference, I could identify with the fact - that if survived that one, I could survive this one. By end of the week I found I didn't really need to write anything down because they were so infrequent.

Like someone posted for me, you are goign to have Cravings even if you smoke regularly at least with these cravings, thats one less in life as they will soon stop!

Also, as you prob noticed, I started a few game threads to take my mind off things as well.

Keep going!

I've had such a shite day aswell, and the fact that there are some about that I could smoke is really not helping.

Help?

Stu

Sorry Stu but there is really only one answer to that.

I had some stashed (why??????) just in case (just in case of what????) and all i could think about was them. its was like they were teasing me.

anyway, I took drastic steps, ripped them up and flushed them away.

I'm not making this up but I actually found I was craving less, than when they were in the cupboard.

i appreciate that if your wife is a smoker that she is not going to appreciate you destroying her smokes, but maybe she could agree not to ever leave any in the house.

Resist stay strong and know that you don't want to have to repeat these days again!

2 things to remember...

1) A cigarette will not help any situation. The situation will still be the same but you have smoked and made it worse.

2) A crave WILL go away whether or not you smoke - it may take a while, but it will go away. Knowing this, whats the sense in smoking?

I found it better to confront the crave rather than try and distract myself - I would write down how I was feeling, and then read it outloud. Once I was done I would tear it up and bin it. Made me feel better everytime. Worth a try!

Good luck, it will get easier - and sooner than you imagine. Just keep going to find out!!!!
