I have a confession to make, i have 'lurked' these boards for 4 months now.
I quit smoking on the 5th February, Patches till 20th March, Nicotine free since then.
I would just like to say, reading these boards has helped me enormously, and feel a little guilty in that I didnt join when I decided to quit, mainly b/c I was afraid I would have to confess to failing.
But with 4 Months of cravings, panic attacks, sleepless nights, and all the rest I now feel I may, just may, have got this monkey off my back.
Thanks to all who posted, just reading stuff here helped me a great deal, seems like there is a little 'drama' hereabouts, but this didnt bother me much, once again thanks
Ohh and btw, most of you are nutcases

The panic attacks were the worst of all my symptoms i found.
I'm a 52 year old Grandfather of 5, and have been round the block a couple of times so to speak, Ex Royal Navy, and am at the moment sat on a pipelayer in Luanda Harbour.
So to be sat around doing nothing, then because i cant remember something really trivial, i go into this emotional vortex, was to say the least disturbing.
When the wife first witnessed the crazed idiot pacing round the house muttering to himself incoherently she went out and bought some 'Quiet Life' pills (herbal) they helped a lot, she had taken them in the past during stressful episodes etc.
I still carry them about with me, but haven't had to take any in quite a while.
Hope you dont think this is an ad for the pills - you did ask
Thanks for the reply and glad that you are not suffering with them at the moment. It is the most horrible thing to endure. I will try ....erm I mean ....I will tell my friend to try those.
Yeah john, pretty sure this is me finished with ciggies, last time i tried to stop was 10yrs ago, got my head together on this one, helped by the offshore medical doctor who i see every year:-
Doctor: you still smoking ?
Me: yup
Doctor: your doomed...
Old sod didn't pull his punches, and it really did get to me, oh well will be seeing him in September so he may be happier with me, maybe not..
And i usually crave for a cig about 2 times a day, down from about 30 a few months ago.
I just tell myself i dont need one, and thats the end of the crave
Welcome to the forum Nakid. I (it has been said by others on here) am one of the "nutters" (I don't know why) but I can be serious too. I was also on the patches but have been free of them for about a month. Not very good with writing dates down so it might be less than that. Anyways, still got inhalator for those odd stressful times but try not to use it much.
Welcome again and hope to see some more posts from you. If you go back to lurking we will find you.
Wellcome aboard - glad to see your made of strong stuff and have not been put of by the nutt.............erm some other people that post on here.....sometimes:rolleyes:
