Hi folks, this weekend has been the hardest since my quit on 17.3.2008, I felt so depressed it was unbelievable, I don't normally get like this under no circumstances, I was near to tears a few times..... The craves that I had were so strong, glad to say I didn't give into them but wow !!!!

Just wondering if any ladies could answer this for me, do you think the craves are at the strongest in during a certain cycle???

I'm looking forward to this week, am extremely busy with work etc and feel proud that I have got this far...

Good luck to everyone on their quits and a round of drinks, whoops meant to say cheers to everyone!!!!

hi della

saturday was really bad for me, but am now on top of it. this smoking will not

beat me. i was told that giving-up smoking is never easy because your mind

will tell you that its ok to smoke one some time, i had this said to me by a

workmate, not true.. just like someone giving-up drink. that one is all it will

take for us to be back on smoking, but your doing really well. keep it going.

be on tomorrow. have a good week:D

Alan;)

Hi Della

Hope things have calmed down for you somewhat. I know when I 'quit' last time I struggled the whole way through (so it seemed).

Right from day one of this present quit, I tried not to create battles within my head. When a crave arrived, I'd let it flow through me instead of fighting it. I guess I just got tired of fighting it in my last 'quit' and thought I'd try a different approach.

Try not to turn the crave into a huge full on battle inside your head, it will only prolong the 'crave' and send you mad! I know, easier said than done if your head isn't in the right place.

I do hope things get easier for you soon though :)

DELLA!!!

We made it four weeks today! Pleeeeeeeeeeeease don't smoke, this feeling will pass! I hardly think about smoking at all now, and feel much healthier. Surely you have noticed the benefits?

Hang in there, we're all right here ;)

Hi everyone, well I for one am glad the weekend is over and its Monday, I must be weird!!! lol.

It was an awful 2 days of feeling sad and empty and thinking that I needed to smoke, imagine how I would've been feeling today if I had given in, absoloutely gutted, 1 month today and no turning back.

This forum is fantastic, the support that you get is unbelievable, thankyou everyone for your encouragment.

Come to an amazing conclusion...

Last weekend I was so depressed and sad and such a moody cow and I put it down to thinking I wanted a cig but I thought I would ride it out and if i was still depressed then thats life but I can safely say today that I was just been an old rat bag!!!

Today, I had to go in an office to sell my jewellery and guess where they put me, just before the door that the smokers use to go outside for their drugs! Yep, I was there for 3 hours, people came and went outside in the sun and rain and puffed and puffed and not once did I honestly wish I was having one too!! I felt free, free as a bird, if I had been a smoker I would've been tearing me hair out wishing I could go out there.

I feel I have turned a real corner, at last i can hear you cry! lol

Wow good job Della!

See, you are doing really well and what a shame it would have been had you have caved yesterday or the day before.

Happy for you! :D

Cravings and that time

Hi Della I have just joined the forum never been on one before. For the last 4-5 years I have tried several times to stop smoking but sadly have always returned to them and very quickly been back to my 20-30 a day habit (disgusting). However I have been stopped now for a whole month and better still I have for some reason not even needed the nicotine patches that I have been so reliant on in the past. :). With regards to your question about cravings and the time of the month Yes I do think that there is a connection but I just try hard not to anticipate problems as a sense that time approaching. I have read Allen carr's 'Easy Way to Stopping Smoking'. and I thought it was very good. An easy read and it made a lot of sense to me. The one message that I took from from the book is 'What are we giving up?' and the answer is 'Nothing' only something that smells, costs a fortune and is very bad for our health. Keep going.:p

Hi everyone, especially Nicky, Linda and Callumsgran. Thank you for your support. Nicky my qit date was 01.04.08 and yes I never thought about it before but that was April Fools Day:p. Rather than count my success in weeks I am only looking at the 1st of every month. So on the 1st of June I will be two months healthier.:) Can any one tell me have they felt any physical benefits of stopping yet. I seem to have had a cold, cough and sore throat after another.

Keep going everyone

hi Lisa...

I know for the first 3 and half weeks of my quit I had cold or cough or both...at the time although it was annoying, I actually thought it helped me over the first few days!!

In the end I did go to the Dr & got some antibiotics as I was going into hospital & I knew they wouldn't operate with me coughing as I was!!!

Since then I have been fine...touch wood... It may be worth you seeing a nurse or yr GP just to check it out?

I'm not entirely convinced what was causing the cough - I'm on champix and one of the side effects of that is a dry cough - and when I stopped taking the pill, the cough went... I'm now back on Champix, but, so far, the cough has NOT returned...

The usual advice is drink as much as you can and take high dose Vit C...

Hope you're feeling better soon...

P.s.!

Sadly, I haven't felt any physical improvements since my quit, but I think that is the exception rather than the rule - everyone else seems to be bouncing with rude health!!!!
