I am on day 3 and am taking Zyban and using the patch. After 20 years of smoking quitting is no fun. But I am wondering if am really quitting as I am still getting the nicotine as well as the anti-depressant effect that smoking has. Am I setting myself up for some tough days in the future when I come off these aids?
Question: I am on day 3 and am taking Zyban... - No Smoking Day
Question
Using both
I have read that in many studies the % of folks quitting successfully increased when they used zyban and nicotine patches.
Although unpleasant it seems so much better than when I have quit before. Part of it is attitude I have just really finally decided that I have absolutely no reason to smoke and 1000 not to. Instead of mourning the loss of a friend I am eager to move into a future were I picture myself as a non smoker.
This is why I am concerned that perhaps I just delaying the withdrawal. Has anyone out there used Zyban and found that they came off it without a tough time?
I'm worried about you Ally, pretty sure you should not be taking Zyban with patches or any other NRT treatment.
The instructions read ....
Zyban should be used in combination with motivational support techniques. You should seek help and support as much as possible while giving up smoking, even while taking this medicine, as this will increase your chance of success.
You should start taking this medicine while you are still smoking and set a 'target stop date' for within the first two weeks of treatment, preferably in the second week. This is because the medicine needs time to start working.
When you set the target stop date that's the date you quit nicotine, and quitting nicotine includes quitting patches.
Boudee I will put a calling Alley post in week one room she will be about there i think if she comes in.
