This is day one, last ciggie had at about 11.00pm last night. Today hasn't gone too bad, just been trying to keep busy. Not using any NRT just going cold turkey, tried patches etc in the past - but was alergic to them. But I'm starting to feel a bit "strange" now, have like a strange heart burn feeling and feeling a bit "spaced out". But i am quite determined that I will suceed!!!!

Hi Anna,
Nice to hear someone sound so positive. That's more than half the battle I think. You've done brilliantly. I really don't think I could do it without some 'artficial' support, so I'm full of admiration. I'm on day 2 today (using Champix this time).
The advice that the others give on this forum is really beneficial. Try sipping water through the day - it does help.
I will look for your posting on day 2 - I'm sure you'll still be strong.
What a woman!
Aww thanks Rosie, I just think cold turkey is the way for me. Hey, it doesn't matter what method we use as long as it works. Heard the champix is good stuff, so good luck with it.
My GP won't prescribe Champix, (have friend who has same GP and she went just prior to xmas), gave her zyban instead, and she has had terrible insomnia with it. With a 2 1/2 year old running around, don't want to be going without the beauty sleep!
Will look out for your posts, see how it's going, just gonna take it a day at a time.
Sorry Roz!!
well done anna, youre doing great!, day 1 for me as well today, and Ive found that I feel so so so tired, got back from town and felt Id run a marathon, and kept dozing on the sofa.
That foggy feeling in your head is the pits, like youre in a dream or something.
hats off to you going cold turkey, Im on patches, and using gum when I dont want to wear one, and Im still craving! dont think I could manage with no NRT, so well done you, everyone has their own method that works for them, there is no right or wrong way to do this, as we will all be meeting at the same finishing post.
Well done and stay strong!

Hello and welcome Anna, congrats on deciding to quit! I also quit cold turkey as I felt the only way for me to really give up smoking was to act like I never smoked just like that in the blink of an eye and never be remembered about it - if not during those nasty few initial cravings, that is  Just hang in there and be patient for a few days, the worst is over is 10 days as week 3 is already different than week 2 and so on - it is so rewarding and worth it! Keep focused and try and enjoy the quit
