What do you believe to be the number of hours/days until nicotine is out of your system? I have heard different things. Also, did you find that the 2nd or 3rd days are actually more challenging than the first?
Thanks.

Hi Julie. It is generally said that 72hrs or 3days is what it takes for the nicotine to leave your system.Physical withdrawl is said to peak on the third day. For a more detailed expanation visit whyquit.com and read 'the first 72 hours'
Hope this helps.

There are different theories around but I think it's generally reckoned to be anywhere from 48 to 72 hours till the nicotine is out of your system. However, personally I didn't really notice this as a milestone as for me the psychological addiction was much stronger than the physical one. But then it is nice to know that it's all gone and that you won't be putting any more in there.
As for days 2 and 3 being harder than day 1 I definitely found this - sorry! Momentum and novelty carried me through 24 hours relatively easily but the next few days were a bit of a slog. But - and I can't emphasis this bit enough - it is so so SO worth it. The first week is a b*tch, no two ways about it, and there are many tough times after that. But it does get easier, it really really does and a fews days of feeling cr*ppy is so worth it in the grand scheme of things.
Hang in there hun - and keep posting, this place is fantastic for getting you over the worst of it.
Hi julie, I'm not sure about when old nic leaves the body, see above for more accurate comment! What I do know is that Day 3 is notoriously tough - most people seem to agree on that. I also know that it does get progressively easier as time goes by so keep strong, keep focused and keep coming on here! Best of luck
