Hi there. I am new to this forum so thought i would say hello and tell you my reason for quitting.
I have been smoking for approx 25 years and 20 a day. I have seriously tried to give up 2 times before but never got past the 3 month mark.
I woke on saturday and lit my first cig and coughed my guts up and decided that was it I had to give up.
I am on patches and have got to day 6.
Sometimes i am finding it easy then all of a sudden it hits me and i am climbing the wall.
But i do know one thing, I will get past 3 months this time. I am going to do it.
I hope to get to know you all. I do belong to another forum but i think I am driving them all mad going on about not smoking so thought joining this one would be the place to get the support.
xx

Oh Flippy we've all experienced what you are experiencing, bless. I still do and I haven't had a ciggie since the middle of July. But, I felt like one today, but haven't. The urge passed, phew!
Keep the chin up, this forum is grand because we all feel the same, we support each other.
this is THE place to be you can go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about smoking or, more accurately not smoking until the cows not only come home but have been milked several times, had calves, gone to the great cowshed in the sky and been reincarnated 63 times and NO-ONE will mind!!!
Hi Flippy and welcome! Hey dont worry about whats gone on b4 - I also smoked for 25yrs,tried lotsa times 2 quit but never managed more than 3 weeks let alone 3 months!!!!! I started what will be my last ever quit (cos I KNOW I will succeed) on 4 Oct . I'm actually taking champix and whilst I realise it is helping me in a big way I've quit enough times b4 to know that you really got to decide to do it. It takes determination and willpower. In retrospect I didn#t really give it my 'all' b4. This time is WELL different. I've made up my mind and I'm not going to waste anymore time or money on this disgusting habit!!!!
Don't worry about going on and on - I'e been whining on for months on this forum - ask poor Buffy! Anyhow I reckon I've got my act on track now .........
Hey Kazza did you ever have a job on play away in the seventies? (when such stuff was even acceptable for kids)..I remember as a kid making a paper tube and colouring one end brown, the other red, filling the tube with talc, stuffing the end with cotton wool and then blowing through it! My, we knew how to have fun in the good old days!!!
This is a great place to come and get support and encouragement and just talk about smoking, I think it really helped in the first few weeks of my quit, my partner used to say, I have now become addicted to the forum! As the weeks go by you start to talk less about cigs and more about other things and have a laugh.
As you say you live in the same town as me, I will be keeping a very close eye on you, so no slip ups or I will have to come and sort you out!
Good luck and keep posting,
Love Befly xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
