Hi, i'm 17 years old from Iceland and I started smoking this summer (so its around 8 months), smoking was my solution to the stress problem I had, and I must admit it worked. Cigarettes were always there for me, to help me celebrate or grief. But smoking does not fit me, last September, September 5th to be accurate I was 107 kg (214 pounds) I started going to the gym everyday and sometimes twice, I am now 73 kg (146 pounds) and am really fit, I continued practicing Tae Kwon Do, it's just so embarrassing to be there and to sneak out after the session to have a smoke while driving home.
But nevertheless, sometimes I just loved cigarettes. But there were moments I hated them! I hate waking up in the morning and only wanting a cigarette, I hate when I wake up 5 minutes before my lesson at school starts but still I come in late just so I can have my morning cigarette. I hate going outside at the end of lunch breaks (in school) ditching my non-smoking friends to have a cigarette before class starts.
I quit 4th of April, out of nowhere, just said to myself in 1 second, wasn't even thinking about cigarettes "I'm gonna quit now" and I did, I bought a pack of nicotine gum and some sort of a plastic tube you put a pack of nicotine inside and suck. I only used the plastic tube as a replacement for a cigarette without putting the nicotine inside but I put it in 2 hours ago and kinda regret it. I haven't used the gum but I feel a lot better after I used the tube.
My question is, I really loved some of the moments where I could light up a cigarette and relax, I really love driving around while having a smoke, you those who have quit, do you still miss those moments?
And another question, if you are out partying with your friends and you're a x-smoker and you really like to have just one cigarette or a cigar, will you become hooked again?
Third and last question, will I never loose the urge of smoking for good like a guy that never smoked.
I miss the great habit more then the addiction, what do you think, was it like that with you too?
And a short one, at what day was your hardest part over?

Yes I still miss the thought of enjoying those moments, if I stop and think about actually really doing it, I know It will not be as I imagine and my feelings will turn to feeling low, angry and upset at myself for doing it again.

I personally thought I could be a part time smoker like my friend (she's on 30 a day now) but I couldn't and ended up smoking again. I don't really believe there is such a thing, as in between smokes there's the ongoing feeling of 'going without' and I was always planning when I could have my next one!

I can't possibly tell you how you will or won't feel! Feelings and emotions are very personal to our own selves. I would imagine that having smoked for any length of time holds ever lasting images and the feeling associated with those images return.
And a short one, at what day was your hardest part over?
Again each quit is different as each person is too, from my observations and as a generalisation I would say there are ongoing ups and downs it's a roller coaster!
I think many here find the first week the hardest with a real lull on day 3. I was too ill too smoke for the first week or so. So i found it easy at the beginning it was when i capable of smoking again I found hard not too for a while.
Now I get the odd urge and it can be very strong! it goes though and it has become less often.
Valberg, I do know for certain that by quitting smoking your life will be greatly improved and that there is no excuse or reason to make smoking a positive thing to be doing! the sooner you give up the easier it will be.
