I read that ginger tea can be good for the kidneys. I have picked some up from the supermarket today and its Ginger with added lemon caffeine free. Anyone else drink this and if so do you think this improved your kidneys? Thank you x

I stopped drinking ginger tea after I read the possible side effects. Look up ginger side effects. stylecraze.com/articles/dan... and other articles you find in your search. In my case, I think drinking ginger tea triggered my stomach problems.

Hi there, I drink it but it has had no improvement on my kidney function but having said that they are stable so it might be helping! It is certainly not causing me any problems that is all I can say.

I drink hibiscus tea everyday as it helps lower blood pressure. I think you need to be careful with it if you are already taking blood pressure medicine. My holistic doctor recommended it to me.

I'm glad these herbal teas are working for all. Instead of following the one caution I read, I probably should have just asked my nephrologist. I will do that the next time I see her. I don't drink coffee or tea and would enjoy a relaxing cup of herbal tea. Thanks all for your input.

always best to ask the nephrologist my husbands renal pharmacist said to run everything by them first some herbal stuff can cause more damage! & i suppose the extent of ckd already may have an affect! in the early stages kidneys can still pretty well clear stuff in the later thats where all the problems come ie my husband was fine with bananas even when on PD but they are a no since on Haemo as he now has problems with high pottassium!

Saw my doctor on Friday and was told my kidneys have improved was 29 now 34 this has happened since last February. When he asked what I had been doing I said nothing that I know of. Reading these posts I realize I started drinking ginger or ginger and lemon tea just after Christmas I don't like coffee and was fed up with just tea. The doctor said to keep up with whatever I had been doing and I said I would if I knew. Now it looks like it could be the ginger. I shall tell him next time I see him. Rosabeth.
