Hi Savio. This is a fascinating topic. If you are interested, there have been additional experiments with pig kidney transplants. The most recent (as far as I know) was done at NYU. The recipient was Towana Looney. Google her name, and start with the stories from late last year. She was a kidney donor many years ago, and more recently, a recipient. Unfortunately, the kidney had to be removed earlier this month, but her contribution to medical research is amazing, and she is a hero!

thanks for the reference, I'll check it out...pig kidneys that have been altered through CRISPR hold an incredible potential. The NY Times had a fascinating article on xenotransplantation a few weeks back...

Thanks for sharing this. Unfortunatley, this patient has since died. All we can do is go forward and hope for the best and hope good wishes for his family. Stay safe!
