Wonderful news...hope this is eventually considered for anyone wanting a transplant.
Thank you for keeping us updated!
This is wonderful news, it looks like this approach is underestimated in our hopes. Most of the prototypes like a bionic (or whatever they call it) kidney will take another 15-20 years to become commercially available.
I wonder what the net cost is for this xeno kidney. I mean if they prove it is safe the next question is the price.
I've considered it but probably won't be offered. And a lot of people call it a "bean" Congrats to you on getting one.
I would take one but not yet. It is too soon, and I am not critical enough. These folks who have taken one are on their last legs, and this is the only choice they had for survival. I think it is fabulous that they are willing to be brave enough to try. But so far, it has not panned out for longevity.
This is such important research and exciting news - especially exciting is that they hope to begin trials this year as more is learned with each pig transplant. I love to envision of a future in which there are enough pig kidneys that people are no longer on waitlists or dialysis.
Encouraging news, thanks for posting. Always good to be updated on the latest developments.
