Vitamin C for dialysis person?
Ask your doctor before you take anything. Anything. Even if it’s over the counter. Even if it’s safe for most people. The answer I can tell you , is absolutely not. Put up with the cold.
Yes, I would also say check with your doctor. For me I do not take anything over the counter or prescribed without checking with my transplant team first. Feel Better!
Would agree with others, but I have taken nephrovite since I was on dialysis and after transplant, which does contain vitamin c. Buy always run it by your doctor first. This is important when using any medication prescribed by another doctor, whether it is an eye drop or a hand cream.
I have also read that vitamin C has been disproven but my doctor told me zinc has been proven to help. There are so many studies. Stores are going to continue to sell it because it makes them money, .ie. Those “emergen-c” packs.
Also if at a dialysis center, there’s always a RN on staff.
Eyak1971 said repro-vita has some vitamin C, then I' m not feeling too bad. This time I only had running nose 4 days with some decongestant and four days vita C, ONLY FOUR DAYS, THEN I STOPPED AS MY NOSE STOPPED. Sorry, Still forgot to call my doctor, this every other day dialysis made me prolong to do things that i ought to do.
I called the Nephrologist, She said it's ok to take vitamin C, but not too much. so I'm ok.
