Women on dialysis

Hi I’m Oneisha I’ve been on hemo dialysis about 4 months and did PD before that so all together I’ve been on dialysis a year now...I recently started back having my menstrual cycle after not having one for almost a year is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

I had my menstrual on and off the entire time while on dialysis.

depends on your age, it may have nothing to do with Dialysis

I’m quite sure it has to do with dialysis I’m 25

Never heard of your period having an affect on dialysis. That shouldn’t make a difference.

It's could be that your iron count is now higher now that you are not on PD. When I was on PD anemia was a big issue. I didn't have the anemia issue on dialysis. I was blessed period on both.😊 But not always on PD.

No love I’m glad you asked! I went through the same boat!!! Lol at first i was like okay what is going on..but after a year and a half I think I started again. Very weird, & I wonder what’s the cause.?

I read a little on it and it says if your on EPO shot which is for red blood cells and hormones that will start back your period, I am taking that through dialysis so I think that may have something to do with it!

Hi Oneisha, I actually have irregular period. Before going on dialysis my period has been on and off for long periods of times. Now That I'm on PD I have has a period at all while being on PD. I do enjoy not having a period but I hope if and when I get a transplant it does come back.

No that you've got your transplant(s) how has your period been? I know you just got the transplant but keep us update on the status of your period. As I would like to know if mine can get back to normal after transplant.
