Urine infections?

Hello to everyone.

I'm new here

2 years now in my second transplant and kidney function is OK.

What bothers me is that from the second year i have continuous urine infections and my treatment is antibiotics.

But the problem insists.

My question is anyone else had the same problem.Did you find a solution?

Are there any special exams to find out what is the problem?

Thanks for the help!

Dear SoniaTou,

I would 'Get back', to your Transplant Team, as there Are 'scans and tests' that Can be carried out. It could, for example, be that the 'Plumbing' is Slightly Wrong- my Transplant is a 'Bit Low Down', for example. In my case, as Everything IS 'Working OK', and no Further Intervention is Deemed necessary. However, IF a 'Problem' does exist, then it is Far Better to 'know'. In any event 'Endless' Anti-biotics won't Help You, in the long run.

I know that 'things' are rather Difficult, at the moment- Covid and all- but DO, try to, Speak To your 'Team' as soon as you can... try tomorrow! Explain Everything, you have said on here, and impress your Genuine Fears. Don't be Rude but DO be 'Persistent', without appearing a Complete 'Pest'.... a Difficult balance, I know. Answer any questions, that you are asked, as honestly as you can. You haven't mentioned Pain, or 'Funny' feelings, which- I suspect-you have experienced. (Oh yes, that Strange 'Knotting' feeling... that time you 'wet' yourself... that 'wind' you get... the time you spent Ten Minutes in the Loo and couldn't 'go'.... ring any 'bells'?)

Ok here's what you do.... Do speak to your Doctor/ Consultants/ Transplant Team. Do follow any Instructions/ Suggestions that they may Give you. Do (please) let Us know, what you are told. Don't Worry, Too Much, Sonia....but, above all DO...

Have a very Merry Christmas

for the 1st year after my transplant, I had UTI that refused to go away for several months. Dr gave me several oral antibiotics that did not work. then tried few IV antibiotics, then switched to oral antibiotics for 1 year. Dr gave above antibiotics based on sensitivity in urine culture

I agree with AndrewT that you need to contact your Transplant Team. It's been my experience that you always let your team know of any issues you are having. They can't help you if you don't tell them. They should be the ones that find the reason for all of these UTI's you are having. Call them NOW!Best of luck!

I've had several UTIs since transplant that was bad enough to cause a fever. The average healthy person mostly fights it off, but my doctor said it can be much more problematic with transplant recipients despite being very careful to stay clean. I met one recipient has to take an antibiotic before every time she is intimate with her husband.

After two hospital stays last year (3 weeks apart!) my nurse prescribed cranberry pills and a medication (forget the name) that makes your urine more acidic. Definitely check with your doctor before taking anything, and let them know what's happening.
