Hi kidney warriors, I hope you are all doing OK. I've not been on for a while as been in and out of hospital and had some more surgery BUT FINALLY on the road to recovery 😁 I'm just wondering if anyone is suffering side effects from the anti rejection meds.....I have a slight tremor from the tac but I'm having the most horrendous night sweats and feeling shivery....its not infection as I have just had one and been on strong antibiotics.....also due to the pain I've been in and further procedures I was on a large amount of oxycodone for the last 6 weeks but came straight off of it as did not feel the need to continue as the pain has practically gone but since then Is when inhave started the night sweats and really shaking, hot and cold etc....justblooking for some advice if anyone else has experienced this xxx

I would ask if your symptoms might have to do with withdrawal from the oxy.

I have really bad night sweats but they are attributed to prednisone. Oxy is a strong drug I would contact the doctor who prescribed it to you and asked them.

Tremors can be a side effect of your immunosuppressant meds. But not sure about the night sweats....could be that your body is reacting to you no longer taking the oxy. Everyone reacts differently. I had entrapped nerves after my transplant in my incision. They put me on some strong pain med. When I tried to get off of it, had horrible diarrhea. My doctor helped me get off the med without having any issues. Had to decrease dose and then quit.

Call your prescribing doctor and tell him your symptoms. He should be able to help you.

I have some of the same issues. Some tremors but I'm adjusting to it. I guess I don't have a choice and I can deal with that. As far as night sweats....I have them around my neck area. I change a shirt about every night and sometimes twice. I would try to keep you bedroom as cool as possible. If you are on a steroid, then that's probably the culprit of night sweats. My wife is a nurse practitioner and when I first started having them she said...it's the prednisone. I am just past 1 year and so far so good. I guess my biggest complain has been GI issues but those are even settling down now too. Best of luck to you. I always try to "play it down" (don't make something more out of it and I "pray it up" and ask for strength and healing. Again, best wishes.

Hello Kidneykel. The side effects of the meds is exactly why I'm participating on this website. I'm 65 and into my 38th year of the meds. No night sweats but significant tremors. There's days where I can't write a check. Also more fatigued and need to stand up slowly. To avoid falling. Saw local doc in March and asked his opinion of what's due to aging vs the meds. Told me 50/50. Stay well and best wishes.

Yes, I am experiencing all of those side effects and more. I am 8 months post transplant and have had many Tac dose changes. Some days are ok, some are nearly intolerable. I’m currently on 4mg of Envarsus and the tremors and internal shaking has lessened, but night sweats have continued. One of my doctors told me that several of her male patients complained about the night sweats and she told them “welcome to menopause!” LOL

I’m no doctor and no personal experience with Oxy, but that sounds like withdrawal symptoms. I would say do what someone above mentioned, ask your doctor about it.

I suggest contacting a pharmacist to ask your questions to and also your transplant team. My husband has quite a few side effects for years from his 3 antirejection meds he takes, the most from Tac. His transplant was 11/18. Your pain meds could be alot of your side effects being off them now due to not needing them. I wish you well.

Hi:)

How is your glucose? The anti-rejection meds can elevate it even in recipients who weren’t diabetic pre-transplant. Elevated glucose can cause night sweats.

Oh that's not normal? LoL I get hot flashes and cold flashes at night and sometimes during the day. Sometimes I feel like I have the flu or a cold but told nope just side effects. I have tremors too from my immune suppressant and my Addison disease. I keep a small rechargeable fan by my bed to fan myself and I also get out of bed and walk around my house that seems to help cool me off. I have been tested for menopause and nope not that so it's definitely side effects. Sometimes when I am so frustrated at night from these lovely side effects I throw a pill bottle and yell I am done! I know it don't "help" and I won't stop taking my meds but it releases some frustration. Hope this helps! Hugs

Thank you so much for your reply!! The side effects seem to have subsided somewhat now, my Tac level has been incredibly high so they have reduced that and my mycrophenalte and that seems to have helped a great deal so I'm thinking that's what was needed 😁 still getting the night sweats but not as frequent and I have developed a technique to deal with them, a towel and a sheet is all I sleep with now 😁 I hope you ate all doing OK xxx
