Happy Saturday! I am 18 months post cadaver kidney transplant patient and I recently completed my monthly fasting blood test and urine test. I was told that my creatinine and tacrolimus numbers are great but they are concerned about protein in the urine. Has anyone experienced this before? May I ask how it unfolded or progressed from there? Thanks! ~Clarissa~

yes, I too periodically have had protein in my urine. Your creatinine is great! Mine, creatine - after 18+ years post cadaver transplant has lately been 0.9. Earlier this year protein did show up in my urine. My nephrologist ordered more frequent labs - After several re-tests for me, it disappeared. I always think that my body is just keeping "me on my toes." Hopefully yours will be the same. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing?
I am in my 15th year with my transplant with a creatinine ranging between numbers like .7 to 1.0. On occasion, protein will appear in the urine as a “trace”. The first time it happened I panicked. Reassured by my nephrologist, I still am bothered if protein is present. Was your urine sample a “clean catch” or simply from regular urination? In a “clean catch” urine is extracted from your bladder by a nurse or doctor with a sterile catheter.
Thanks for the reassurance! I am quite alarmed because they have used many words to say it might be possible rejection (God forbid, it isn't so) if the trend continues to go up. As far as the urine sample, it was a regular urination as part of my monthly labs. Thanks, again! Hope to get a chance to chat with you again! Take care!
