Energy and Blood Pressure

Hello all! It's been a little while since I've been on here since recently my health has really declined... I've recently been out on the transplant list and the doctors are trying really hard to keep me off of dialysis.. the first time I had a failure (15 years ago) I was immediately put on dialysis so I'm not sure what it feel like to be in failure without dialysis. Recently having a real hard time with my energy and blood pressure is really hard to control.. My GFR is around 18-20. Is anyone else having really bad hard time with energy/ lack of motivation and high blood pressure issues... let me know!

Thank you!!!

Hello AlexysB and welcome to the NKF Kidney Dialysis Community! I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing kidney failure and hope that with treatment you will feel better very soon. Unfortunately, fatigue, low energy and blood pressure that is difficult to manage is common in people who have late stage and end stage CKD.

For general information you may find helpful please visit us at: youtube.com/playlist?list=P....

Best wishes!

Hello Alexys,

It sounds like the symptoms you are experiencing are the natural sequence for Stage 5 failure. You have been blessed for 15 years not to have to go on dialysis, but your body is in need for proper cleaning. Please look up the functions of the kidney and then you will understand more about why you are experiencing "energy and blood pressure" issues. Please seek counseling from the nursing staff of your Nephrologist office to guide you into the expectation of dialysis.

Keep your spirits up!! Get education about your health and you will be alright!!

Are you on dialysis? And I can't drink too much water because it makes me super swollen. On lots of Lasix for that

Have been at this level for several year. I have no energy most of the time. I just live with it but I find that the more water I drink the better I feel. I would rather deal with this than the other.

I'm not on dialysis yet. My blood pressure is fine, my gfr is 21. I have very little energy, no motivation. I have several other medicsl as well and that makes it more difficult. I am 76.
