ACE's and ARB's are considered the gold standard for proteinuria. You may intitally have a slight dip in eGFR, but it should recover. Best wishes!
Good afternoon Radars I have the same problem as you and my Kidney specialist put me on Ramapril and Doxazosin. Hope this helps you. Brian
While many of us can list drug names, it is your GP's responsibility to prescribe the drug best suitable for you, based on clinical protocols, as the medicine requires a legal prescription.
Your doctor may prescribe a medicine to help lower your blood pressure and slow down damage to your kidneys, and there are two main medicine categories for CKD patients, presenting with Hypertension. They do the same job, but in different ways though. Below is a brief summary.
1) Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors - slow down how much AT2 your body makes.
2) Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) - block the receptors (buttons) that AT2 uses to narrow your blood vessels.
AT2 - Angiotensin-2, is a hormone made by your body that helps balance your blood pressure. When your blood pressure starts to go too low, the body makes AT2 to help bring it up.
