Haematuria without Proteinuria

Hey everyone

Hope everyone are keeping well. I did message everyone after my Nephrologist appointment but not heard back so not sure if everyone received my message. The Nephrologist said I have Haematuria but no proteinuria, what does this mean? According to the Internet I may have bladder cancer, is this right? My GFR is 47 and serum creatinine is 111. Nephrologist said I’m in-between acute kidney failure and chronic kidney disease stage 3. Im during for further blood tests next Thursday.

Stay safe x

Hi, I've included a link for an article on hematuria. Hopefully, it will explain everything to you to understand and even develop questions to ask your doctor.

I'm not sure what your doctor meant by in-between. You have CKD. If you slow the progression of CKD you may never get to Kidney Failure, depending on several factors,

meet with a renal dietitian who will look over your labs and help you develop a kidney-friendly meal plan, develop an exercise regimen approved by your doctor, stay hydrated with water, do not take any NSAIDs ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, aspirin, no supplements without physician approval. Right now it's important to know what caused your CKD. The two leading causes are diabetes and high blood pressure. Whatever caused it must be under control.

You'll have to ask your doctor about the question regarding Kidney Cancer. We do not diagnose here.

Mr_Kidney, thanks for this link. One more medically sound resource. It raises the question:

I have been getting blood draws, but not urine analysis. Perhaps it's because I no longer have my bladder or prostate. I see my nephrologist in about 30 days, and I'll ask. Any thoughts as to the value of urine tests. I don't have diabetes or high BP. Thanks.

According to what I've learned from my urologist urine tests are critical for spotting things like blood and protein as well as heading off a UTI before it gets too far along. He's told me that if I detect any change with the stream, odor, or anything out of the ordinary to come in and they'll take a sample and run labs for the issue suspected.

He knows about my health issues and is extremely proactive in keeping me healthy.

Hi Mr Kidney

Thank you for being in touch. Hope you’re keeping well.

Regarding my appointment with the Nephrologist. He was very good and spent ages going through all my issues. He said I have definitely got Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3 but the way my GFR is dropping 5% every month he said I fall between Acute and Chronic.

Thank you for the link and all your kind support.

Take care of yourself, god bless x

Hi Sawita! Been awhile. No, I didn’t see your last follow-up post. I’m sorry. What makes your doctors believe that you may have bladder cancer? Is it the Hematuria? Because I think I showed that in my last results in March as well. I haven’t yet researched it online fully, but I plan to. When I do, I will keep you posted as to what I find out.

Take care of yourself, dear. God bless. Bye for now. 🙏🙏😊✌️

Hi Friends,

I hope you’re well. Thanks for checking up on me, that’s so sweet of you.

Regarding my appointment with the Nephrologist. He was very good and spent ages going through all my issues. He said I have definitely got Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3 but the way my GFR is dropping 5% every month he said I fall between Acute and Chronic. His arranging more tests to be done to rule things out. His doing a immunology screening but unsure what that is. Because I’ve been deteriorating over the last 6 months and during this time I’ve had a DVT, Fibroid in my uterus and suffer with fibromyalgia he is hoping that possibly the fibroid it blocking’s access to the kidneys or my Endometriosis which I’ve suffered for 18 years has grown and blocked access to the kidneys. I guess I just need to be patient whilst more tests are being arranged but everyone did say I’m doing the right thing going privately rather than NHS as by the time I’ve managed to get a consultation appointment with the NHS I would have already had further tests done and hopefully already be treated for it.

Oh! Also, doc said that I don’t need to watch what I’m drinking and eating but just need to be sensible. It’s because my BP is fine and don’t suffer with diabetes and other results are fine. I hardly eat a small child’s portion once a day anyway so I’m not at huge risk with food and drinks.

Yeah they are checking due to me having Hematuria. I had a cola coloured urine just once and the blood found in my urine.

I do feel lot more relaxed now I’ve spoke to a specialist and things are getting done about it. I’m still extremely stressed though. My body has become so itchy especially at night making me restless, could this happen at stage 3 CKD?

What do you think about everything?

Hope you’re keeping well. Take care, god bless x
