Has anyone had a similar ultrasound result?

I had an US this morning, here are the results:

both kidneys are normal size with thickened hetrogenic cortex apperances.

I’m still waiting on my renal appointment but wondered if anyone could explain what this means please?

I wouldn't worry about it until your nephrologist says so. Normal size is good. heterogenic cortex appearances could probably mean a number of things that the nephrologist will explain to you. It's probably unimpressive to him/her. Significant echogenicity is bad, which you don't appear to have. You'll know more once you make that appointment.

Thank for your reply. Well I ‘should’ have a renal apt but as of yet no one has contacted me even though it’s meant to be urgent. Apparently it was sent to a consultant last week, he didn’t follow up and is now on holiday! So I’m now hoping someone else will pick up.

It sounds like you had an interesting ultrasound. Thickened cortex can sometimes indicate changes in the kidneys, but it’s great that you're following up with a renal appointment. Hopefully, you'll get more clarity soon!
