I had an US this morning, here are the results:
both kidneys are normal size with thickened hetrogenic cortex apperances.
I’m still waiting on my renal appointment but wondered if anyone could explain what this means please?
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it until your nephrologist says so. Normal size is good. heterogenic cortex appearances could probably mean a number of things that the nephrologist will explain to you. It's probably unimpressive to him/her. Significant echogenicity is bad, which you don't appear to have. You'll know more once you make that appointment.
Hi! It sounds like your ultrasound showed some changes in the kidney cortex, which might need further evaluation. It's good that you have a renal appointment coming up; they will explain it better. Hope everything goes well!
Hi Whatnow1973,
It sounds like you had an interesting ultrasound. Thickened cortex can sometimes indicate changes in the kidneys, but it’s great that you're following up with a renal appointment. Hopefully, you'll get more clarity soon!
Best of luck!
