hello I wonder if anyone can help me. My husband is having recurring gout attacks at least once a month. I wonder if this could be due to the fact he’s taking apixabhan blood thinners. He’s had a number of a/fib palpitations over the last year or so and it’s to stop strokes he’s also had cabgx3 and recently diagnosed with t2 diabetes. Does anyone else have recurring gout attacks on apixabhan thank you

if you have recurring gout there is a medication that you can take to decrease uric acid. It’s called allopurinol. I know a few people who take it as does my husband. Game changer. It does however cause some drug interactions so his doctor will have to take a look at that before prescribing. Gout is super painful
Do a search for an old post from three years ago called ‘Uric Acid Meds -Gout’. By someone called NilsB. There were 51 replies. Worth a read. Also someone posted three days ago about allopurinol
Yes it can cause gout amongst other side effects drugs.com/sfx/apixaban-side...
I believe you have to maintain a low uric acid level. Not sure of the number on labs, but allopurinol helps to keep the level low.
