Have you been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, if so what level are you? How long have you been diagnosed.?

My egfr was 87 before taking ace inhibitors but after two months it is now 59, Dr has reduced the dose and said decline in egfr is due to ace inhibitors

Here is a link to National Kidney Foundation for Chronic Kidney Disease calculation and eGFR

Ask your nephrologist about Kerendia and Farxiga.

Also, the decline in eGFR from ACE-i is expected, the drug lowers eGFR initially but then reduces the rate of decline. The rate of decline in your eGFR is what your nephrologist is going to monitor closely.

You could try reducing oxalates (spinach and almonds are very high, but you can search online for lists of food content) and see if that helps.

Also review all supplements that you take..#herbal less common items

Give the herbals a miss fir 3 weeks, see if there are positive proteinuria improvements.. then review your herbal supplements again.

No depression and emotion down. (easy to say I know). There's lot you can do but it's time to act. Proteinuria is often early sign of kideny damage. You need now onward a specialistic approach. Don't panic, if applicable for your case today we have SGLT inibithor which showed great capability to slow down kidney function decline. All the best

Will talk to my nephrologist for SGLT2

Have you thought about diet? Perhaps think about reducing the amount of animal protein you eat and look into plant based proteins which are easier for the kidneys to process.

My nephrologist said you can never get rid of protein in urine just reduce it

from what I have been told it is aa fluctuating number. I had +2 awhile ago and now it is better with diet. Don't be so frustrated. you are on the right site for help.

Most of us go through a whole anxiety process when first diagnosed. Give it a while to observe how little difference it makes day to day, research diet changes that can slow progress and improve your health, maybe check out Farxiga, ARBs, etc for maybe improving it a bit. Sounds like you've got a smart doctor. Good luck.

You are on top of your labs and taking an active role in your health which is fantastic.

They have always said you can only hope to stall kidney decline. However, recent drugs have been shown to help!

I am not a doctor. However as I understand it, eGFR is based on creatnine. ACE Inhibiters will cause a “cosmetic” rise in creatnine which lowers your eGFR but that doens’t really mean your kidneys are getting worse, at least as far as that is concerned, but many factors influence this.

My nephrologist told me becoming a vegetarian would be good for my kidneys. I gave it up but about a year later still ended up on dialysis. Everyone is different. It is known that plant protein is easier for kidneys to digest than animal protein, and fish protein is easier than land meat. Please see a registered dietitian to make an eating plan. Mine has success with one patient improving her kidney function when they made serious changes to her diet. I have read other reports of diet really helping.
