i have stage 3A kidney disease and my scalp has been very itchy and gave i dominos (wake up every 2-3 hrs but go right back to sleep) as u get a total of about 8 hrs as read that is a sign that your kidneys are getting worse . Feel fine and drinking 4 bottles of water a day and urine is almost ckear at night when i go to sleep as i’m 71.
like to connect with others who have a similiar issue as feel fine otherwise. Thanks

Hi. I went to a dermatologist for my itchy scalp and she looked at it and said "chronic dandruff, use dandruff shampoo whether you see flakes or not." So I do, Head and Shoulders worked for me. I doubt your itchy scalp has anything to do with your kidneys.
If you're urine is literally clear, and you're getting up to pee that often, you may be drinking too much water. CKD is a hard diagnosis and can make you question every abnormality for a while.
i am freaing out as i have pain on top of head where i have been scratching thinking it may be something more serious as my grf has flucated between 50-60 for the past 12 years and this is a new symptom and my urine is clear at nite but have trouble sleeping for months as wake up every 2--3 hrs every nite but blood pressure and heart rate fine
I have since this new Head and Shoulders "100%" got an extremely scratchy skull with dandruff, must be the new 'mixture' have been using "Head and Shoulders" at least 15 years, no problem at all with it before, just last few months, have a shower every morning regular, I'm not exactly a healthy bunny, although sugar level in my liver, diabetes 2, could be another cause, either way won't be using head and shoulders much longer😖🙄
Many women in our age group have itchy scalps. I suffer from that too. I'm a few years older than you, but it started in my 60s. It seems that as we get older, our natural oils and hormones decrease exponentially. I've found immense relief in adding evening primrose caplets to my diet. It took a few days for that to work, but it does help a lot. Sometimes I have a breakthrough itching episode. In cases like that, I rub oils (even Vaseline) into my scalp, shampoo, and find relief. In full disclosure, I'm not facing kidney disease. It's my hubby that has gone through all of that including dialysis and transplant. Interestingly, he's never had an itchy head. I only hear women complaining about it.
it came out of nowhere and driving me crazy and i’m 71 snff so never had that issue my whole entire life and just want to stop the itch and dr said stress can cause it and what did you put on your head to stop itching and thank you for replying
Any oil will help...coconut oil, tea tree oil, argan oil, rosemary oil, etc. Vaseline helps too, if you have nothing else on hand. Simply rub oil gently on your scalp, wait a little while and then wash it out with a gentle shampoo. It certainly won't hurt to try it. Chances are good this will take care of the problem. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Thank you for reply as have a second opinion with a new dermatologist tomorrow who might want to take a biopsey (which im refusing) as this all started when i got my hair trimed and she put leave in conditioner on head when i went home and a few days later thats when the itchiness started as never had this issue before or with that salon and trying to find a new place now and now after reading think it might be skin cancer as both doctors (primary and dermatology) saw nothing as just stated my scalp was dry and inflamed and nice to reach out to someone as that when the problem started and my kidney level was good in fact it went up and so nothing off in the blood work as hope you will reply. Thank you Darlenia
I think it's a great idea you're seeing a new dermatologist that might diagnose and clarify the situation. I also wonder if it could be an allergic reaction that's making your scalp extremely dry and sensitive. In my own experience, my precancerous lesions covered small areas and were self-contained - but it's good to check that out too. We are all different. If it's truly dryness and inflammation, you may want to add a supplement containing beneficial oils to your diet...evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, etc. Sometimes we treat things from the outside when its better to treat things from the inside. This said, I'm definitely not a doctor...just an older lady trying to be helpful. If your new dermatologist reports the same situation as your first one, I would ask for his/her opinion if taking a supplement of this kind will be harmful to you in anyway. Sending you positivity! Something is bound to give you relief soon!

The doctor diagnosed me with seborrhehic dermatitis which is strange as have no dandruff or patches on my head and concerned why the other dermatologist didn’t tell me and put a call into them and they said no way and i’m so upset and confused as have nothing g but itchiness on and off on head and read what that was and don’t have those symptoms as dr said it was sub meaning under the skin as can you give me your feedback on this as so upset and driving myself crazy. Thanks
Well, that's disappointing, isn't it. I'm very prone to itchy skin too and it's a very miserable thing. In my case, it's sebum deficiency...my old body just doesn't produce enough oils anymore, so I add oils to my scalp and supplements to my diet. I also make sure to bush my hair very gently and so on, otherwise the itching becomes extreme. But I'm not sure if yours is the same thing...I'm a nonmedical person. If you've been given medications by a dermatologist, and you may want to try them to see what happens. Hugs!
