Restless legs...

Wanna hear something weird? I have restless legs, on medication for it that usually works. But I figured out that sea salt (the type you grind) works to help calm the restless legs. I know I shouldn't have more salt with PDK, but for some reason in my wandering around the house at midnight I tried a couple of rocks and just let them dissolve. It seemed to work.

Sodium make body absorb more fluids. That's why cured RLS. But won't fix edema. I'm on dialysis, I have those problems too.

totally agree. On those night I flip a coin to decide which one I feel like dealing with. Not a great fix but sometimes I need sleep

I didn't know RLS could be caused by lack of fluids. I always take magnesium and stretch my calves a bit before bed, and that does the trick for me.

I have had RSL for over 20+ years. before there was a medical name for it. The only solution my doctor could prescribe was tylenol 3, and when that stopped working I went straight to codine for a while. It was finally diagnosed as RSL and was prescribed Mirapex and Amitriptyline. It worked like a miracle for about 10+years, then now using clozepam for several years. Recently, I fell it is not so effective anymore, and read about soaking my feet in epsom salt and warm water for 20-30 mins. before bed. So far, since i started doing this I am now back to getting 3-5 hours sleep at nights. Only hope this will be a lasting solution. I have also cut back on my myrapex .

I was just reading up about magnesium and found out that one way people get magnesium is by soaking in Epson salts. So I’m guessing that is what’s happening to relax the muscles in your legs. So as an alternative you might consider a magnesium supplement (with your doctors approval) if the soaking in Epson salts is cumbersome.

I used a magnesium cream as I can’t I take the supplements. Didn’t do a lot and it’s expensive But maybe an option for some.

That is quite interesting!

Sometimes our bodies respond to things in unexpected ways. Just be cautious with your salt intake, especially with your PDK. It's great that you found something that helps!
