my recent cystoscopy

I was very worried about having this procedure done and it happened to be in the middle of a big storm. I still made it. There is no problem with my bladder. However, the blood is coming from somewhere. The Doctor is a urologist and has decided to send me for another kidney scan with contrast this time checking my EGFr are and my creatinine before I have it done. I feel all along that he may have suspected that the blood was coming from my kidneys however, it would’ve been neglectful not to have checked my bladder with the camera.

I don’t know that I feel relieved now that it’s over with because I feel I am facing a much bigger issue. I was diagnosed with CKD a number of years ago because of blood levels and protein and I had never had or been told that I had blood in my urine. This is new for me since July and I also had grosshematuria.

I wonder how many other people with kidney disease have this, he told me that being diabetic for so long likely the filters and my kidneys were not filtering the blood and it was in my urine. The next kidney scan is early April, and I really wonder what the next steps could be? Thank you everyone on here for your support when I was so afraid of the cystoscopy!

Hi Chilly. I’d really just take one step at a time. It sounds like your urologist is being very thorough which is just what you want. You could spend the few weeks before your kidney scan worrying. Or not. It won’t make any difference to the results. All you can do in the meantime is concentrate on your nutrition and drinking plenty of water. You say you think that you’ll be facing something much worse than what a cystoscopy would show but you really don’t know that. Just do some deep breathing exercises, eat well and sleep well. You got this xx

I agree waiting is very hard. I'm having to do that myself right now on a different issue. Just try to stay positive and do all you can to stay as healthy as you can. Sending positive thoughts your way.
