I am having knee replacement next week...We must take blood thnners after to prevent dvt and possible PE.. I get it..Blood thinner of choice is now asprin...tolerated and less side effects.. I am supposed to take the regular dose of 325 mgs BID for a month..I know ASA is not as risky as the the other nsaids..and that dose is not high.. I have also read that the low dose of 81 mggs prevents clot... what have any of you done,,,,,
thanks

I trust the medic prescribing it is aware you have CKD. Whilst its reported to potentially reduce microinflammation for CKD (1st link below), there's cardio risks (link 2).
Thank you for the email...yes ususally they are on top of things but they sent in an rx for ibuprofen.... doc had forgotten.....ASA at 325 mgs bid for 30 days is the most effective for preventing dvts... big risk wit ortho surgery....warfarin is ok with ckd patients but more complex as requires blood work .........you have a nice xmas
when i had my knee done they put me on warfarin for a week in case of clots but no aspirin after...i had actual painkillers that i took myself off of when it became manageable with a tylenol a day
