Ckd covid-19,shot

Is it safe to get a covid shot when you're stage. 3b ckd?
Tomorrow I will be two weeks past my second Pfizer shot. No problems at the injection shot for either one, and no issue since the last shot 13 days ago. I did check with three of my physicians, the nephrologist, PCP, and cardiologist to get their input. I'm also Stage 3 and was cleared by all three. In fact, it was through my cardiologist that I was able to get the shot. Check with your doctor(s) and get it taken care of. Even with a minor reaction at the injection site it will be so much better than having COVID.Best of luck.
Thank You😊🌷🌷
I too am at stage 3 CKD and did get my Covid 19 shot and had no major side effects, other than some minor fatigue. I did check with my PD, who approved of me getting the vaccine.
I got my second Moderna Vaccine in February and had 0 problems.
-The Coronavirus Death Toll is 2,965,968 deaths.
-Covid 19 vaccine Death Toll is 0.
-The COVID-19 vaccination will help keep you from getting COVID-19.
Can you send a link confirming no association with a vaccine for those that have died within 28 days of having it (same criterion used for covid deaths)? I know deaths are reported so assume that's not really what you meant.
cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc...
Thanks. To be honest, I was hoping for details on how they evaluate the "evidence" rather than just saying we should accept their assurance (following a separate, personal negative MHRA experience).
But at least the CDC and FDA acknowledge the need to continue monitoring so hopefully any longer-term effects should, in theory, be publicised.
I had both Moderna shots and no issues and I am stage 4. When in doubt, check with your healthcare team.
I'm stage 3 and got the Pfizer vaccine. I died. Now I have arisen from the dead. Worship me! All kidding aside, zero issues other than a sore arm for a day or two.
I have had both AstraZeneca Oxford vaccinations. All good.
I’m cat 3a and was worried that the Pfizer shot I got 3 weeks ago would affect my gfr number..got my results of latest bloodwork yesterday. My gfr went up and creatinine down...so if it did affect it...well it was for the better!
All of my specialists urged me to get the vaccine ASAP, which I did! Both vaccines -- no problems at all. I'm a month out from having both! And, I have a kidney/pancreas transplant!!
I did and l am stage 4. They will ask you if you have specific allergies toCertain medications before administering the shot. The only side effect
I had was some short time pain in my arm and tiredness.
I'm stage 5, on dialysis over 19 years. ALL my doctors emphatically encouraged me to get the vaccine. Had first Moderna shot last week and have been sick as a dog since. Vomiting, diarrhea, chest pains, migraines, aching sore muscles, weakness, confusion and more. My injection arm is still quite tender and sore. I'm rethinking getting the booster especially when it only increases immunity by small percentage.
Blessings
I am stage 5 and had the Pfizer vaccine. as I prepare for a transplant, hopefully later this year, I am reminded of the statistics that the mortality rate for organ recipients is ~ 20% - twice the mortality rate of persons 75 or older. For me, it could be a matter of life or death, but as others have said, check with your doctor, who likely has the most complete picture of your health.
Always check with your doctor. That being said, my nephrologist told me that you don't want to get COVID. He told me disturbing stats - that 1 out of 4 that come down with COVID who have CKD will wind up in the hospital and die. One out of 5 who have had a transplant and get COVID will wind up in the hospital and die. Those stats don't sound good to me. I have received both of my Moderna vaccine shots. I have had a transplant 21+ years ago.
I got mine and the second shot made me have fever, chills, headache, nausea. The first night it was like a flu, the second night it was better, the third night no fever or headache. Every morning I woke up fine and felt gross in the evening.
I have like 5 risk facts, ckd, a solitary kidney, and distal renal tubular acidosis, a heart defect, high blood pressure, and more.
I know how high the chances are that I would die if I catch COVID. I don't want to die. I didn't want to feel sick, either. But I really don't want to die.
I have Membraneous Nephropathy and had no issue with the two doses of the Pfizer shot. My brother took them at the same time that I did. He is a severe insulin diabetic with Polycythemia Vera, a blood disorder.
We had a bit of minor nausea ( that ginger ale took care of within the hour) and a sore arm 24 hours later.
We both checked with our specialists prior, who endorsed vaccination and have just passed the two week mark after the second shot.
Everyone is different and may have no to a different response.
Check in with your doctor to get the green light.
All good!
My hubby, on dialysis, received the Moderna vaccine (both doses) and had no side effects other than a sore arm. I received the Pfizer vaccine and, a day after the second injection was surprised to get a swollen, painful lymph node in my armpit on the same side I received the jab. And discovered it's a side effect - for round 10-15 percent of folks. Happy to have had the vaccine, but wish I had been told that this was a possibility.
