Can stage 3b or 4 CDK patients drink a cup or two of green tea each day (brewed from tea bag)?

Hi Luv,Green tea can be ok for CKD folks. Just make sure it is just green tea and no other herbs in it. The only caution is if you are on a blood thinner. But two cups is not that much. When in doubt, check with your doctor. I drink hibiscus tea every day. I cleared with my health team and actually one of my doctors recommended it.

Thanks. My nephrologist does not give me ANY guidance, so I have to do it on my own through educating myself.

Luv, I think you need to see a new nephrologist. From your other posts, I do not think you are in the best care with what you have said about your doctor. I know it is hard with Medicaid, but you deserve the best treatment possible. See if there is someone else you can see.

I am not the only person around here on Medicaid who cannot get medical care. If you are on Medicaid here you are disposable, and the sooner you die the better, according to them. I can hardly even get ANY medical care. They have told me numerous times that I cost the system too much, and they will do nothing to save my life. I go in for my yearly physical, and the doctor doesn't even examine me. He only does bloodwork. When I was still insisting on pap smears, he would fake the smear, not even taking enough cells to get a test. To begin with I though he just couldn't get enough cells due to my age, but nope. Another physician was always able to get enough cells, no problem. -- At my last neph visit my thyroid labs were almost non-existant, even though I take thyroid meds. Being hypothyroid really lowers my kidney function, so the neph told me to go back to my GP and get my thyroid adequately treated. I went back. He said "No way is he going to give me more meds for my thyroid. So, I drove 80 miles to get a script from an NP. She was pretty incompetent, but at least she gave me the script. Now I have enough meds on board to be able to get out of bed and move around. She will be getting a call from my usual doctors though, and told to quit giving me the prescription, just as her partner that I used to go to got that call. They intimidated her about giving me medical treatment. Finally, for ONE time, she agreed to give me the script if I signed a paper releasing her from responsibility so she would not continue to be harassed by other doctors in our system. THE SYSTEM STINKS!

I am so sorry you are experiencing this lack of care. Find a whole new team! It can be overwhelming, I know. Sending you the best right now

I'm on Medi-Cal which is CA's version of Medicaid. I get the same quality of healthcare as if I had any other ins. When I used to go to the county hospital I got horrid care. But since I have Medicare and Medi-Cal I can see any private practice Dr. I choose. Granted some private Dr. aren't accepting new Medicaid patients. I would suggest that if you have a University Hospital near you go there. You'll get the best care regardless of your Ins. They are teaching hospitals and are up on the latest in healthcare.

It is unconscionable and unprofessional of you medical team to treat you that way and say those things.

I would, and have done so before, go to the state medical licensing board's website and file a complaint (after you find a new team). The Drs. are required to provide at least a minimum standard of care compared to other Drs. in their field. It doesn't seem like they are providing that for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I hope you aren't limited to a small pool of Drs. in your area. I used to live in the SF Bay area which had 1,000's of Drs. and specialist. I've moved to a rural area but still have options for very good health care. I did recently fire my primary care but found a wonderful new Dr.

Good luck.

I should be drinking tea instead of coffee, but I still need a cup of coffee in the morning.
