hello just after some general advise really. Ive just turned 31 and have had about 5 uti in the last year some really horrible and difficult to shift. After asking the doctor to do a blood test. It's come back that my efgr score is low i was sent for another blood test a few days later both scores were 60 and 62.
I've had an ultra sound which didn't seem to show anything and just waiting on the review from the doctor on Monday.
I've had my urine checked which was fine.
Just wondering if any one is in the same position as me. I am a little worried from what I have read just wondering if any o e had any questions I should be asking the doctor when I speak to them in a few days.
I'm normally fit and healthy other than the urine infections they have picked up I'm low in iron and vit d and need another blood test to check my thyroid as this wasn't in range either. Does any one know if a low efgr would effect this
Thanks in advance natalie

Your current physician seems to be pro-active and that is a good thing. However, if you would like to ask specific questions I've provided a list below for you. If your doctor doesn't offer specific answers you might consider asking for a referral to meet with a nephrologist.
Is the doctor you are speaking with a PCP or a urologist? Primary Care Physicians have a lot of general knowledge but I feel that it is important to have specialists who are certified in a specific field when dealing with my health issues. On my Care Team I have a PCP, cardiologist, nephrologist, urologist, retinal specialist, optometrist, pharmacist, dentist, podiatrist, and renal dietitian.
Questions to ask your doctor.
Why is kidney disease so serious?
How did I get kidney disease?
What stage of kidney disease do I have right now?
What do the different stages mean?
Is there a special way I need to eat with kidney disease?
I don’t have symptoms. Does that mean I don’t have kidney
disease anymore?
If my kidney disease starts to get worse, will I feel the
difference?
What do I need to do to stop my kidney disease from
getting worse?
How can I be sure my symptoms are from my kidney
disease and not some other reason?
If I have diabetes, high blood pressure (or both), what does
it mean for my kidney disease?
Are there medicines I can take if I have both kidney disease
and diabetes?
How often do I need to visit you?
Will you test my kidney disease at every visit?
Come back and let us know how things went and we can provide additional information to provide you with help and support.
Urine infections can damage the kidneys. Sounds like that’s your primary cause. ( rather than diabetes or high blood pressure) What you need to know is- why are you getting the kidney infections and what you can possibly do to stop them recurring. Maybe a scan can help and a referral to a nephrologist ( specialist kidney doctor) . If they keep on happening, your kidneys will be further damaged. I too have low thyroid levels ( as well as Chronic Kidney Disease level 3a) and have tried to find out more about whether there’s a link. If you Google/ search that question, a study comes up linking the two, but leaving me unsure as to which might have caused the other. I’m on Thyroxine to replace what my thyroid cannot do and that needs to be doubled now, after only 6 months. If you can search Mr Kidney’s questions, it will throw up some more to arm yourself with. You are your best advocate and your best researcher. Make sure you have someone supportive that you can talk things over with and come back on here to chat about how things are going.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Lee Hull’s huge and well researched book “ Stopping Kidney Disease “ . I read both- one has recipes- ( order off Amazon) and have reduced my Creatinine levels and raised my GFR in three months from 51 to 57. My GP/PCP was amazed ! Basically Mr Hull advocates a whole food plant based diet, no smoking, no processed foods. I’m no angel, I’ve stuck with it 90% of the time !
Good luck and o hope you can get some answers and stop your infections.
Hi there! I know this was posted a while ago but I'm wondering if you ever had another blood test done ? Did you see a nephrologist? I'm in a similar situation and would love to connect..
