I had constipation and gut pains. Went for a colonoscopy. The gastroenterologist took a biopsy and found out that i have h pylori. I was reluctant to take the antibiotics but he assured me that the treatment is safe even for stage 3 kidney patients. prescription comprises of amoxil 1g, klacid 500mg, trustan 40mg, inteflora i cap, flagyll 400mg. this should be taken for 14 days. i intend to start the treatment in 2 days. Is there anyone whose eGFR was affected by antibiotics.

My son seems to have had that & when it penetrates the gut you will have worse problems of infection. To counteract the antibiotics take a good probiotic . You could look up on the internet what foods improve the gut micro biome . Since then I’ve got my sin on smoothies of blueberries, strawberries and other frozen fruits .

You need to double check with your doctor if you are diabetic. A probiotic is a must, antibiotics heal one thing but destroy other things in your gut.

Excellent advice from Amrellessy. Yes, you will need to treat your condition - it's very damaging to your stomach. And by all means, take probiotics to restore normal functioning of your intestinal tract. My husband suffered two utis (one was exceptionally severe) and antibiotics were administered over a couple of weeks each time within a matter of months. The last one created severe diarrhea which was finally controlled by probiotics. Although my husband is on dialysis, he still has some limited kidney function. The antibiotics didn't seem to affect his kidneys negatively. Indeed, it's the infection itself that can harm the stomach and other organs. For example, in my husband's case, the infections increased his blood sugars which will further destroy kidneys and more. We're grateful the infections are gone. Hope this helps.

You should be asking your nephrologist about taking this cocktail of drugs. Some antibiotics are metabolized in the kidneys. I have had a kidney transplant and have taken amozil before but am unfamiliar with the others. I know klacid is also an antibiotic and must be finished. Can't be stopped in mid-stream.I contact my nephrologist before taking anything. Contact him and tell him you have already been taking the cocktail.
