Hello all! For those of you who have been following my journey these last few months, I'm roughly 4.5 months post transplant! Also, today I celebrated my 22nd birthday! This birthday, despite not being a typical milestone birthday, actually has a lot of significance to me and my family. This year, is the first birthday that I've celebrated with a healthy kidney. I was able to eat what I wanted without wondering how it would affect my next lab draw, and it felt both great and weird at the same time. I posted on another page for both people who live with my medical condition and parents of children who have this condition a reflection of just how far people with my condition can go. I don't talk about my overall condition on this page much, due to my belief that it lacks relevance in the grand scheme of things. However, sharing that part of my story brought so much peace of mind to parents who are currently going through what my parents went through just over two decades ago.
It made be think of all of you on this forum as well. Reading your questions and requests for support, and reading the plethora of knowledge in the replies just reminds me just how powerful our experiences are. We can and do shape lives and perspectives just by typing on a phone, keyboard, tablet or other device. We bring comfort and perspectives that can't be found elsewhere as well. Personally, I feel beyond privileged to have been able to converse and share my experiences with you all and receive love, support and ideas in return. I hope to be able to continue to support and be supported in these forums in the future, and wish you all well on whatever part of your kidney journey you're on.
