Cause of spike in BP

My BP will not go down. Going to GP today and having blood tests but just wanted some input. What are your thoughts on the spike suddenly of high blood pressure, cramps, night sweats, and insomnia! Affecting my mood and daily activity. Stage 3b kidney disease with hypertension and hyperthyroidism. Just changed hormone patch to lower dose so thinking sweats due to this? Could potassium cause high BP? And what causes cramps?

Hi. I know how tough this situation can be. My son had similar experience with BP. Ultimately he ended up on dialysis and then transplant. It all was very fast on progressing to dialysis as the doctors had great difficulty in controlling the BP. My best advice is to stick with what your doctors tell you to do. Ask questions. Make sure you are getting clear understandable answers from them. Write everything down. Keep a log of how you are and what they tell you. Write down your lab results too. If you find that you continue to be frustrated then go get a second opinion. Having things written down will help the doctors.

There are so many things that can cause your BP to spike. It could be a change or reaction to a med that you have been on to more salt than you normally eat. Make a log of your food, drugs, activities and liquid consumption. It will help the doctor to figure it out faster. Good luck.
