Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Hysto 😊

I also had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago so understand something of how you feel. Short, gentle walking was very beneficial, something about the rhythmic rocking that helps the pelvic muscles. However, for weight loss, it far more important to eat properly, especially if you aren’t as active as youre used to, watch you sugar and carbohydrates intake especially. Snacking in general isn’t advisable either I’m afraid, you are much better having three proper meals. For healing yoy need lots of leafy greens, and good healthy fats.

I had one 10 yrs ago. I gained weight. Keep that water bottle around flavour it with low calorie powders for variety. Try to get up walk around every half hour. It’s so annoying I know like boring trolling around the house but do it. Walking makes you lose weight. Try to bag prepare your snacks so you see what you’re actually eating. Don’t deny yourself your chips just cut them back portion to once a day. You can nibble them in intervals lol. Chew gum. Make veg tray with yogurt seasoned popcorn salted keep your sexy underwear insight... inspiration to fit into them. You have good things to look forward too. Don’t be too hard on yourself. The house walks helped me and keeping hands busy

I don’t need to lose weight. I’m thin due to Illness I’m flabby but not overweight. Dont eat sugar it’s hidden in so much or carbs except brown rice don’t drink booze. Start cardio. I lost 30 lbs doing that 10 years ago and ate more. My two cents

Slim people tend to lose weight when they are ill, and obese people put weight on - or is it more complicated than that?

I used to be heavier I used to eat a lot of food love casseroles good home food. I realized dieting doesn’t work for me. I hate diets. When I needed my hysterectomy & hip surgery 3 months apart I gained 20 1bs. I was also in good shape strong still. I had allergy testing done found out I was allergic to a few foods. I cut sugar out of my diet. I used agave and stevia for coffee. I cut back on dairy. I used plain yogurt put my own fruit in it. Used brown rice pasta or actual brown rice and if I drank booze at all was vodka with pamagranite juice or an actual mint leaf. I made my own salad dressing as to cut out sugars. I still ate fruit. I exercised on bike and mat exercises then later gym. I ate all of the time and no deep fried foods. The weight flew off of me I couldn’t believe it. Eat protein twice a day for sure. I never ate white bread I stayed away from bread as much as possible. Pizza Friday’s still were on the table. I ate snacks I kept eating clean. It was a game changer.

Great - this story warrants a post to it's self so everyone can see it.

Thanks I wanted to share my story. My sister dieted and was over weight. I kept telling her she wasn’t eating enough and eating wrong things. I felt bad for her she tried so hard. Years later she joined this weight loss company and they made the food snacks & told her what homemade things to make. She stopped drinking too. She didn’t cheat. The weight came off. Guess what .. the plan was basically the same as what I was doing. She was eating more small snacks throughout the day eating right more protein less wheat natural sugars. Sugar is in everything if you look at labels you’d be shocked and where it is on list close to top of ingredients. And healthy fats doing it yourself as opposed to other fats. Once you start eating sugar more and rest you see difference and once you eat clean you can partake in odd bad snack or food.

Hello, Hysto, and welcome :) It's early days and all those small steps to increasing your activity levels will add up, so keep at it.

As for "snacking", a major cause of this is not eating enough at your meals. Get that right and you won't need to eat between meals. My mission is to remove the term "snacking" from the dictionary and replace it with "eating between meals" and then we can see it for what it is.

Willpower has little to do with it, so don't be down on yourself. Sweet stuff and other carbohydrates have a physiological effect on our bodies so that when we eat them our bodies shout, "Feed me more!!" You're tied into it, however strong your motivation. Turn off the supply and you'll see the craving reduce.

When you have a hysterectomy your hormones are knocked for six whether they’ve left your ovaries behind or not. If you are bored why not make a list of jobs you want to get on with and work out which ones you feel up to doing until you either run out of jobs or you’ve recovered. Your low mood can be because of many things, if you can get on line easily you could try researching cognitive therapy techniques.
