Trying again

Hi everyone. I am new to this site, but not new to trying to lose weight and get healthier.

I tend to lose a bit then everything slows down, I can't kick start the weight loss, get despondent and give up.

I really need to lose weight, I am getting a bit worried about my future. I need help.

Hi Hilarydol66 ! You’re in the right place. Really supportive group of people all with a common goal. There will be an admin with some info to help you along ASAP if not before I manage to post this. I’ve just started again myself after a bit of time off. Good luck with your goals 🤗🎉

Thank you for your lovely welcome messages. I am determined to get healthy and lose a fair bit of weight hopefully. I am looking to start next week. I am off ill at the moment with a stomach upset so only eating dry rice cakes at the moment! Nice!

So when I am feeling 100% I shall make a start.

Hi Hilarydol66 and welcomei!

I started my weight loss journey at 14 stone - 5 and a half years ago. I am just 4ft 9" tall and so was classed clinically obese.

I was 49 years old and had been trying to lose weight all of my life since the age of 9. I have a disability which makes exercise difficult (I am very sedentary and use a wheelchair outside of the house).

The one thing that I realised very early on in my journey was that I was just eating FAR TOO MUCH! I was a short, middle aged, sedentary female and I was eating the same as 5ft 9" active man (my now husband!). No wonder I was piling on the weight!

I started my journey at the end of February 2012, and managed to lose 4.5 stone in 2 and a half years through calorie counting and logging/weighing all of my food.

Then re-gained some, lost some again and have now managed to more or less maintain for the past 6 months at around 10 stone. Still considered "over weight".

Ideally I would love to drop another stone to 9 stone and maintain there.

Here are a few of my past posts which I hope you will find helpful and inspiring. I won't try and tell you that my journey was easy - and you'll see that there were many blips along the way, but 5 years down the line, I feel about 20 years younger than I did when I was lugging around 4 stone more.

Please do pop back to the forums and share your journey with us - we are here for you, day and night and happy to share your success or support you when you need it.

Hello Hilary

I would recommend this group to anyone wanting to do what your embarking on. It's rather magical. It's helped me so much in such a short space of time so I hope it does the same for you.

Hi Hilary, yesI have the same problem with staying power. If I don’t see any change I give up, and get very down hearted. But someone said to me, You only get one chance at life you might as well try and enjoy it . Good luck

Hi Hilarydol66! I am just like you, in fact I chose the same heading for my post. I have been dieting since I was a teenager, sometimes a great success which lasted years. Recently only a few pounds off and then all back on and more, which makes me feel such a failure.

I hope that you have a great success this time.
