Another "Experiment" Update...

Hi.

I wrote this before, but I deleted it by accident, so I guess I'll start again.

I said I'd post an update on my experimentation with my diet.

Like the previous week, I ate around 1,700-2,000 calories a day. I ate 3 meals, and these meals are usually eaten between 11am-7pm. One thing I did change was that I started exercising for 45 minutes a day, doing cardio (Leslie Sansone 3 Mile Walk).

Last week I was 293.4lbs.

This week I am 290.1lbs.

That's a bit too much for my liking. My aim is to lose 1.5-2lbs per week. I thought I gained a pound yesterday, but I was wrong.

What I will try to change this week is the amount of calories I'm consuming. I'll try to increase it a little, then I'll see how that goes. I also think I'm going to lessen my meal/eating 'window', and I'm going to eat from 12pm-5pm.

One thing I'm happy about is, on my old scales that measure in stones, it says that I'm 20st 9¾lbs. This means I'm not far away from my original starting weight of 20st 4lbs several months ago (before I messed it all up!). That's what I consider my REAL starting weight, so when I get below that, maybe I'll be a little more grateful.

Thank you lot for all the help. I'll update next week, as usual.

Interesting to see the results DiZia 😊 And I wouldn't be too concerned about a substantial loss if it's a recent gain as they often come off again quite quickly 😕

Noted. I was initially worried, as they said weight loss should be 1-2lbs, some others say 3lbs is safe. I'll carry on with my usual diet for this week, then I'll see how it goes.

Great to hear that things are working for you. It also helps me with ideas of how to change things up. Also like Anna61 I wouldn't worry to much as change can cause a significant different and then it can plateau if no further change is made..

The 12 - 5 window sounds interested, although I would personally be concerned with eating that many calories in such a short amount of time. However I have been reading about research behind the 5:2 diet and a period of fasting seems to work well although it would probably result in another big loss.

Good luck with any further experimenting.

Thank you, and I see what you mean. Especially at my size, maybe it's normal for obese people to lose a lot of weight at first.

Definitely normal, I am just over 21st and as soon as I make a small difference change like changed white bread for wholemeal bread i can lose up to 5lb in a week, but then I plateau if I don't make a new change 😁 I am like this until I lose about 1.5 to 2 stone... unfortunately this isn't my first time round.. the last time I made an effort to lose weight I got down to 18st 😥😥😥😭

Wow! Yes, I need to cut out some bad things. Most notably white rice, pizza, and especially SUGAR! 5lbs in one week is amazing! Well, at least you have previous experience in weight loss, so you're a lot more knowledgeable than I am. I hope to get to the 18s somewhere in the late 'ber months. But, I know it'll slow down eventually. So far, I haven't made many changes to my diet, except cutting out snacks. I'm very afraid of when I'll have to be a little stricter.

Yeah, it's a scary thought for me, not eating sugar and snacks 😥😯. It a a psychological battle as well changing the way I think about food.. My change for today is going to the cinema with fruit, rather then buying popcorn and chocolate 😯. I'm sure you will make the 18 st Mark soon just keep making the changes and start of small as they will have to get bigger in a few weeks.

Take care DiZia and keep up your good work.

I think your loss is great and wouldn't worry that it is a little over 2lbs.

Well done, DiZia , and keep going! As the others said, to start with your weight loss may be a bit faster - just don't get disheartened when it slows down. I have fallen into my old trap of being complacent for the last few weeks - so maintaining rather than losing - but must now take a leaf out of your book and go back to my earlier small changes again. Alcohol-free days, here I come! And no more popcorn for a while - it is so addictive.

I don't think I'll ever get to the point where I'm maintaining! :D I couldn't even imagine achieving that. I think I'll be happier when I can fit into a size 16-18.

Oh, and yes, popcorn is delicious. I like sweet and salted flavour, together.

Well, I'm not maintaining in the sense that I don't need to lose more weight - I'm standing still in my weight loss, but have 10 to 15kg to go! I had a "job-lot" of the Tesco Finest Popcorn after one of my shops when the new flavours all sounded great so I bought a packet of each - and they were big packets of 7 portions each. Never again - I "had" to eat them to beat the use-by date in the end. Caramel, white chocolate, ginger, raspberry and all sorts of delicious combinations. Lesson learnt: if it's not in the cupboard, you can't eat it.
