How did I get here?

I have always been able to eat and not gain weight (or so I thought) I've just turned 43 and although I am quite active I have managed to gain 2st in 2 years and have gone from a size 10 to I'm just squeezing in a 12 if I am truly honest, could anyone give me any realistic advice and tips, I would really like to shift this weight before Christmas but mostly learn to maintain it.

Thanks 😊

Hello catfinn you have come to the right place. One of the admin team will give you more information shortly.

Read as much as you can - post and get involved. I like the daily diary as it helps me to plan and makes me accountable.

Losing 2 stone by Christmas sounds attainable and you will get lots of support. Check out your bmi on the NHS checker and that will give you a calorie range. Dont start off to low as you want to be able to keep it up and enjoy it.

Have a great first week πŸ˜ƒ

Morning Catfinn

Welcome to the weight loss froum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Well the chances are you are prob peri menopasal, and your bmr has stalled ( basal metabolic rate), life sadly it throws these spanners, or have you increased your portion sizes and stuff and not realised?

I find lower carbs helps hormonally and weight wise, my shape has changed in the last year, tho my weight has only slightly increased, annoying menopause, 10 years on, and still playing up at times!

Losing weight , and maintaining can be tough, we have to readjust certain things st our age, good luck!

Thanks, I suspect due to my age a lot of what you have written is correct if I have to be honest with myself, I could definitely eat smaller portions though 😊

Hi Catfinn, I definitely find portions to be a problem. I find a kitchen scale useful so I can make sure the sizes don't creep up on me.

Hi and welcome - wishing you all the best on your journey :)

Thanks, I will definitely do the scales and measuring cups, fortunately my other half wants to lose weight too so I am not alone 😊
