So glad I found this site.

Hi Fellow weight loss friends.

I'm so glad there is a NHS site to get help and support to achieve our goals. I've been on my healthy living regime for nearly 2 weeks and have lost about 6 lbs. I know I need to lose around 5 stone so I hope that if I struggle you'll be able to help. I'll try to support you in you journey too. I'm not a patient person so I expect the lbs to fall but guess that's not realistic.

Sounds like you've made a great start ! Are you finding it easy going ? :-)

Yes at the moment, but I'm worried that the novelty will wear off. I have depression so can get demotivated especially during the wintertime. But so far so good....

Yes - keeping going when the novelty wears off can be a struggle ! Hopefully you will keep losing weight so that will spur you on each week.

I'm so sad - I have everything on an excel spreadsheet with a lovely graph so that when I am feeling demotivated and too impatient, I can see exactly what I've achieved so far, and where I hope to be targeting in the coming weeks - I find that helps (but then I'm an excel nerd !)

Perhaps join some of the exercise challenges if you can, to keep a sense of fun (??!!) and motivation going ?

Have you checked out the anxiety and depression forum? I'm a member and they are helpful too. Conqueuring the two would be great because it's often related.

Hi RenewedRufus

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hi and welcome RenewedRufus this forum is definitely a great place and whether someone has a lot or a little bit to lose we all support each other.

You've had a great start, which is good but it may start to peeter out a little bit now. Generally 1 - 2lbs a week is the best weight loss as its sustainable and doesn't send your body into shock.

the daily dairy is a great feature. Its a good place to find recipe ideas and share you're own. Many of us find planning in advance helps keep us motivated and less likely to reach for a snack.

Great loss! Glad to have you here. I have 32 more lbs to go myself and together we can do this! This is a wonderful supportive group here.

Welcome! This is a great place. Everyone is amazingly supportive, understanding and full of great advice. Be realistic and aim for 1-2 lbs a week. Any more is a bonus. It is then sustainable. Good luck on your journey 😃
